Well, first, excuse me about my english, it's very very poor.
Second: I just have bought a Sapphire 4850 512MB. The deliver brought it to me yesterday.

Well, in the first moment, all looks right. I installed drivers, and i tested some games, like Grid. But when I showed CCC, i became shocked. Base clocks for GPU and memory were 625 Mhz and 993Mhz!! These cannot be usual. But, when I used FurMark to test it, temperature (it started on 50ºC and 50% of fan use) only rised to 70ºC, at full use. I thought then that those temperatures and clocks should be normal.

Today I started playing games, Grid and Emergency 4. Emergency 4, suddenly exits after show artifacts. I thought it's caused by this pirate game, and I don't worry. I started testing Grid, and...just when I finish the first race, it fails and exit.
FurMark, in Stability Test don't fail and don't exit or gimme errors.

What's the matter??

My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-945GCMX-S2 v6.6, and my power supply has 450W.
Thanks!

Seems like its factory overclocked far too high. Lower the clocks in CCC and have another crack :)

Temperature seems fine, PSU should be ok dependant on the brand too.

Oh, and your English is quite good :)

I cannot low the clocks in CCC. Memory clock it's the lower I can set. I only can low GPU clock, but how much?

Thanks. I'll check my PSU brand.

so the GPU core clock is 625Mhz? It should be able to handle that surely. Have you tried making the fan run faster, just to see if it helps?

If you're still having issues I would RMA it. Most likely you got a lemon. :(

Hmm, sounds like an OEM / low brand PSU, first thing id do is consider swapping it out for a more quality unit, such as a corsair unit or a Thermaltake unit. If that fails, then id send the card back for replacement.

Not really enough amps on the 12v rail.

nowhere near enough on those rails. you need at least 25A on a single rail PSU, or dual 18A rails for one of these cards.

Since you said you dont understand:

Amperage times volts = watts.

As your PSU states, it has two 12 volt rails, one at 168W and one at 192W.

The thing is, the first rail always goes to the motherboard and CPU, with the second running the video card, hard drives, fans, and so on. if your motherboard uses an extra 4 or 8 pin connector for the CPU, odds are that comes off the second rail as well.

192 watts simply isnt enough, for a video card that can use 100W+ just for itself.

try getting a single 12V rail PSU, 30A+ - corsair are a good place to look. A corsair 450W can be better than a 600W cheap/no-name brand.
