Reset the cmos by using the jumper, switch or removing the battery for 30 seconds while the system is powered down and turned off.

Hi and welcome to TPU

Can you reset the bios, and try you old sticks again. There should be a jumper on the board. If not just turn it off, and remove the battery silver disc for 20 seconds then replace it, and reboot.

You could also check this to see if the new stick of ram is supported by your motherboard.

I tried taking the battery out and placing it back in and still no difference , i tried placing the old ram back and it isn’t working ethier and the ram is compatible I checked before I borought it thanks Amy other suggestions ?

Tried using different slot?
Did you unplug and hold power button down before making the changes?
Is there any burning smell around the motherboard when you powered on? (If this then maybe you may have fried the motherboard around the ram area)

The idea was for you to hear the beeps, is yours beeping the same way?

So your board powers up but just does the 3 beeps?

3 short beeps for AMI bios which yours has is Base 64 K RAM failure. Have you got another stick of ram to try?

These are all the AMI beep codes-

so you went from using 2 sticks to 1 stick, did you check to see if the new stick is on the QVL list for that motherboard?

Try reseting BIOS with jumpers while the battery is in. Leave the jumper in "reset" position for a minute and put it back where it was. Then remove the battery, wait for 10-20 minutes, install it back, install old RAM and try booting. If it still doesn't boot, I'm 95% sure you'll need another motherboard. Make sure that your motherboard supports RAM speed and preferably manufacturer before you install it/them.

Do everything listed but just prior to giving up, take everything out of the case and assemble it on cardboard.... Or any non conductive surface.
If it still fails at least you didn't waste time as you'd have to take it out to replace it.

Blow the slots out of dust, check the ram pins on the old and new ram, reseat cpu.

Might be easier to take to shop to confirm the problem

Before replacing anything ....

1. If performance is the goal, I would not recommend using 1 stick in a dual (dual = 2) channel board. Here's the manual page, check 1st and make sure you are using the correct slots
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/752617/Asrock-B85m-Pro3.html?page=18#manual

2. Take out the RAM, clean contacts on both sticks and slots. Reset CMOS afterwards .....
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/752617/Asrock-B85m-Pro3.html?page=21#manual

a) Remove RAM
b) I use a foam swap dipped in Indigo Extreme Cleaner (90+% isoprpphyl alcohol is a decent substitute).
c) A screen wipe (alcohol based) will work fine on the sticks.
d) Place the jumper on pins 2 and 3 as shown on the image linked above before cleaning. Switch back to pins 1 & 2
e) Insert 2 sticks in slots A2 and B2 per above image
f) Boot and enter BIOS
g) Clear all settings to defaults .... (shouldn't be necessary but many miss getting in the 1st time from being slow on the key press)
h) Save and exit
