i tried many and none work in my samsung a20, my old lg didn't have a problem. preferably one tested and ad free even if paid.

You mean like voice recorders? If none of them work something's up.

I have a voice recorder that works but not a phone call recorder i need to record some calls

I'll double-check, but I think most Samsung phones do have a built-in call recording feature.
Don't have an A20 specifically at hand, but a few low-to-mid budget sammies from the same generation.

This, I thought so as well, deleted my previous post.

But OP wants to record phone calls...

Yeah I think they have it built in.

I looked online and saw the a20 has a bult in recorder but is not on mine, i think it got erased after the latest update about 1 month ago.

@Miguel2013, it should be still there. Just hit settings in context menu. I just double-checked my spare A71 running the latest firmware - it's there. I have an A30 and will get an M21 for repair today or tomorrow - I'll check on those as well. Pretty sure if they removed it - it would at appear in changelog for the latest update.

I looked everywhere on settings and can't find or from the phone call app I didn't look before updating the OS but it might have been removed.

@Miguel2013 Is this a carrier phone? Because I know in the US carriers tend to mess with... pretty much anything they can.

I meant, did you buy the phone from your carrier?
I'm gonna ask my brother he gave it to me
he says he doesn't remember but then he said probably from tmobil so I'm not sure he's not sure

If it's from T-Mobile, it's very possible they pushed an update removing that capability from your phone :(

Modern Samsung smartphones have built-in call recorder. It can be found in "Call settings".

Wasnt this removed and its not legal anymore in some countries? Some firmware versions have this removed and restricted if i remember right and you cant do it without a rooted phone or some apps that have an workarround for it (i think the EU versions not sure).

I could see this happening in the EU, where you need to get permission before you record someone. But Miguel is from the US.

I think that here (in the EU) branded phones with the "local firmware" have this feature removed and the CH versions of the firmware have it enabled, not sure about the US but maybe his firmware has this removed too , operators tend to mess up with things (for legal reasons or just their preferences) , if he has an operator version of the firmware he could try installing some Global version or something or if the phone is rooted there are ways to enable it unless they completely removed it from the firmware.

Just buy a new phone, an A20 in 2023 is rough, buy the A14 5G,it has it all for just 200$

And BTW I've seen examples of Samsung removing features in software updates so that might be what's happening
