Malwarebytes. Thread over.

Awesome Don, lightning response.
We'll see how it goes.

How come people let there computers get to that point?

I had to fix someones computer a few days ago, and it was so bad that both Spybot and Malwarebytes would not install. The only thing that worked was Avast Rescue Boot CD.

anyways good luck with the fix.

He didn't even realize his computer was at that point till I told him. That's why there's ads for "fix my computer" etc and people pay to correct that shiz. Some people just don't know.

I always rename the .exe before installing; that gets around the virus sometimes. Also rename the .exe after installing.

Malwarebytes Antimalware and Super AntiSpyware. Everything else is a waste of time right now.
But i don't use any, antiviruses have detection good enough.

Btw, why is this under General Hardware?

Definitly a good combination!

Comodo Internet Security(free) Malwarebytes, Spybot S&D, Adaware ect. Only use one av and firewall, but use as many antispyware apps as possible. If you program Comodo properly, nothing in h*ll will get past it anyways......

post in the right forum sections. next time, i'll just delete it.
We also have stickies about thread titles, and what not to do with them - yours is a perfect example of a useless thread title. "need anti-malware help" - how hard is that to come up with?

malware bytes is good, but its also got its flaws. for example, it picks up anything named keygen.exe as a virus - while that name may be associated with illegal warez, that doesnt mean its a virus.

Personally i dont trust programs like that, as it means its relying on the NAME of the file to detect if its a virus or not - and i find that to be a rather pathetic method to find malware.

I've found that kaspersky internet security gets this stuff too, even when i install these programs to 'test' them they never seem to find anything. Either i'm a 'safe' internet user, or kaspersky is doing a good job.

i would advise kaspery free 30 day trial, its the full version plus 1 full update, kaspery will kill everything

Get Avira AntiVir Personal 9.0.0.418. Its awesome and will destroy the virus. :nutkick:

Yeah, including your computer if you're unlucky.
I prefer NOD32 + spybot S & D, works for me. But I guess most of the time it comes down to personal preference, they really don't differ that much (unless you're using microsofts free crap).

The bad thing with these "rogue" spyware is most of the AV software out there has issues detecting them and the few that can detect them....it's too late. I have been most successful in removing these "rogue" apps with malwarebytes but there are some that either will lock the profile up or you just cannot install anything to the system, even through safe mode.

Spybot search and destroy has always been free unless you are using as Corporate user. Beware that some fake "spybot" on google search are malicious programs that are totally not related to the real one.
