John, I would agree with you but a PSU will last as long as you are in its efficiency range. There is no difference in warranty between the HX750, 650 or 850. Running a high wattage psu with low load will actually yield lower efficiency. It's a known fact. If you rely on the warranty then get the 650 watts to save yourself a bunch of money.
Why buy 2400mhz ram to run it at 1866?? the 3570k runs memory at 1600mhz anyways, you didn't even buy a sufficient cooler to overclock.
$200 for a good monitor is a lot better than a so-so $160 monitor. Trust me, your/his eyes will thank you/him and the monitor will last much longer.
A radeon 7850 will play any modern game and save you $100.
TBH, your friend shouldn't spend that much money if he doesn't usually run into this kind of money. He should have this kind of money every month if he wants a highend system. But for 1.5k canadian, I would expect something much better. SSD is the best performance boost you can put in this system and yet it's completely missing.
You only buy from ncix because you already have it set up? I can set up accounts in 5 different places in less than 20 mins. If that saves me $200 then the $$/hr way higher than what I'm me, you or your friend is currently making combined.
Newegg ships to canada fast, amazon does too and so does a few other etailers. I think the real problem is you haven't looked and haven't really put a whole lot of thoughts into this. Jumping the gun cost lots of money, it may be too late to change it now but I hope you are wiser next time.
