Need help for upgrade my PC

Yeah if it’s +50€ it might be a better option
Where I am the difference is 3x50€

7800X3D: 380+€
7950X3D: 530+€

When I grabbed both they were $339/473. Prices jumped after Zen 5 reviews lol usually it's the opposite but my guess is everyone started buying them.

The productivity advantage of the 7950X3D is somewhat offset by the inconvenience of having to disable half your CPU for optimal gaming performance, or edit game shortcuts to start with specific core affinity.

The 7950X3D doesn't suck at gaming if you run it with default settings, but it's slower out of the box than the 7800X3D.

@oxrufiioxo
probably because amd said early on the (non X3D) 9000 series wont be faster than 7xxx3D for gaming, so ppl bought those instead of waiting..

This is obviously only a guess at this point, but I don't think the 9800X3D is going to be significantly faster than the 7800X3D. Maybe 5-10% or so based on how much faster the 9700X is compared to the equivalent 7700X, even after these latest Microsoft patches that improve performance (remember, that patch also helps the 7800X3D too....)

ppl always forget, not everyone has "time" and try to get the best deal 3-6 month down the road, as some dont just swap parts, but gift the old one to the kids,
sell locally etc, or want something completely new for birthday/graduation, limiting amount of time to get parts.

e.g. my last upgrade was supposed to be just the switch to 280 rad, but was offered to build a gaming pc and sold my cpu/ram/board/psu and 2 M.2s,
so while i would have liked the X3D, didnt care to wait for release and went 5950.

What about if 9000X3D has better thermals, so higher clocks than 7000X3D, plus a better/faster extra cache?

If that's true, then great, but my educated guess (and it's purely a guess) is based on three fairly robust data points:
  • There were rumours the 7800X3D would solve the clock limitations of the 5800X3D's extra cache, but that failed to materialise and the 7800X3D is still 400MHz slower than the 7700X. There's no evidence to suggest they've solved this fundamental issue yet.
  • The 9700X is touted as being more efficient than than the 7700X but that's because the 7700X has terrible efficiency far beyond its performance/Watt sweet-spot. The 9700X is not really more efficient than the equivalent 65W part - the vanilla 7700, nor does it have better thermals.
  • The 9700X doesn't clock much higher and doesn't respond well to increased TDP (PBO+). Multiple sites and 'tubers have tried to push the 9700X with increased TDP and achieved only insignificant gains.

What I’m saying is based on the following and things I heard elsewhere. Of course nothing is certain but I believe some improvements are at place. Will see how good they are.

@Chrispy_
or they just improved on defective chips/optimized binning so the proc wont have much headroom left, or on purpose (more tiers ?!)

What country are you in?
People in here are from the US, UK, Europe - it makes a difference to what's a good recommendation if you need more help.

Yeah, gaming upgrades are always about avoiding trying to balance CPU, GPU, resolution and refresh rate.

A new CPU will be overkill for a 6600XT
A new GPU will be overkill for a 1080p display
A 1440p high-refresh display will be a disaster on a 6600XT, no matter the CPU
A 1440p high-refresh display will be a disaster on a 9400F, no matter the GPU.

They all have to be tackled at once for a meaningful improvement to the quality of gaming ;)
Hello everyone sorry I haven't check this forum.

I live in Asia, Indonesia. which 7800x3d costs around 440-465$ incl VAT with box w/o box it's around 400-410$. About monitor I knew it'll be overkill but I also planning to upgrade the monitor in a few months.

I already calculated the option that people gave me in this forum sooooo

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Rp7.040.000 / 457$
ThermalRight Frozen Notte 240 Rp1.375.000 / 89$
MSI PRO B650-S Rp2.495.000 / 162$
TEAMGROUP T-Create Expert 32GB (way more expensive in here) Rp3.615.000 / 234$
Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 Rp2.070.000 / 134$

Calc: 1076$ prices maybe different in some stores I guess. and @Arjai recommendation is (all of it) $791.10 I'll probably look another option or calculating other option

Will you upgrade your GPU? Your choices regarding everything else seem good. However, these parts seem overkill for a 6600 XT.

Yes I am planning upgrade my GPU too same as monitor that yall recommend but for now I think I'll stick to 6600 XT for few months or maybe around late year or new year? What do you think? You can give me a GPU and monitor too in here if there is like another recommendation so I'll keep that in mind.

What would be your total budget for all the upgrades you plan to do? I know you mentioned about $1000 US for the platform but I'd like to know if that includes a potential monitor or GPU upgrade.

Yeah $1000 for the platform. And maybe around $500-600 separate that only for GPU and monitor? but that is not include (if) I sell my old parts.

Here's my list:

I just used a total budget of $1600 US instead of splitting it. Let me know if the monitor is too large or if it's overbudget in your region. Also, what case do you plan to use?

Thank you for the pcpartpicker. For case I use NZHT H7 Flow Black I've been using that since I bought my 6600 XT.
In that case (no pun intended) you can swap the mATX board with a full ATX one if you wish.

Oh okay, btw thank you so much! I'll probably back to this forum if there's like a question or something. Thank you! (again)
