Gigabyte x670 Aorus Extreme, AMD 7950x3D
ASUS RYUO II ARGB CPU water cooler
ASUS ROG THOR PLATINUM II 850 watt PSU

ALL NEW IN BOX SEALED btw, QFLASHED to latest bios using USB bios flash port successfully , did this with no cpu and no ram successfully. Watched the led on the usb stick and it took about 10 minutes to stop flashing and complete the bios update to the motherboard. The integrated motherboard HDMI port and DISPLAYPORT cables are both connected to monitor that has been tested and is used daily btw.

SWAPPED in another brand new identical x670 gig Aorus extreme motherboard
SWAPPED in another brand new 7950x3d
Then TRIED EACH CPU and ram kit in all possible combinations ON EACH MB

It’s run powered on 1 hour and no change, just the same cpu led is red on both motherboards and the post led code display is blank and never powers on at all both mb

cleared cmos several times over the last 4 days and done numerous reboots

Also no dram or vga motherboard LEDs have ever shown red, green or anything, they never turn on, just the same red cpu led

Tried 3 different memory kits , putting each stick of each 2 stick kit in dim slots in slot A2 and B2 only , which is clearly labelled on the mb by gigabyte as the first 2 slots to use. Never tried more than 2 sticks of the same kit, never mixed or matched or tried 3 or 4 sticks. tried just 1 stick in only slot or only slot B2 from all 3 kits.
same result, red led cpu and nothing else no matter how long the system is powered on.

all 3 mem kits do the changing rgb color power cycle so that’s a sign they have some juice

F5-6400J3239G32GX2-TZ5RK (Matte Black)

2 G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO RGB Series (AMD Expo) 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin SDRAM
DDR5 6000 CL30-40-40-96 1.40V Dual Channel Desktop Memory

)

3 G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB Series (Intel XMP) 96GB (2 x 48GB) 288-Pin SDRAM U-DIMM
DDR5 6400 CL32-39-39-102 1.35V Dual Channel Desktop Memory
F5-6400J3239F48GX2-TZ5RK (Matte Black)

keyboard is plugged in
power supply swapped for a 1300 watt platinum evga nova from another working pc, no change
ASUS ryuo usb connector is pluggd into usb port on mb and the leds on the ryuo CPU water pump work fine alternating between colors and the asus logo and random patterns that is on the 7950x3d
replaced the paste that came on the cpu water cooler with fresh noctura paste after cleaning off the old paste

all radiator fans work fine, plugged each of the 3 fan power connectors from the asus ryuo radiator cooling fans into the mb:

1. cpu fan mb connector
2. tried plugging the other 2 radiator fan power connectors into every other possible fan pin power
System, pump, etc. while keeping the main cpu fan where it is

maybe made a mistake in connecting the fans to the mb? even though the cpu fan is usually the only one preventing a cpu boot and that has always been connected in every scenario tested so far and it’s spinning fine I checked. I’ve had AMD cpus in the past where the cpu would not power up if the cpu fan header on me was not connected but that’s not the problem here since its connected

checked the asus thor psu LED , it never gets higher than 24 watts and sits around 23-24 watts for hours
so it seems the cpu is never powering up

SUMMARY so far:

never gotten video from the integrated hdmi or DisplayPort even once, no signal even sent to monitor
never have the two post LEDs even powered up once, so never gotten a code, just the red led for the cpu that’s directly on the gigabyte x670 extreme motherboards.

Ive built dozens of computers from scratch, most recently Intel x299s, amd 59xx based pcs using gigabyte Aorus extreme or MSI mother boards. This is my first new and 5 system. I’ve had it looked at by two other experienced pc techie geeks and short of multiple brand new hardware components defective out of the boxes we are googling what to try next.

I’ve done my best to supply enough not to waste anyone’s time. This mess has consumed many hours of my time this past week.

Other than some required cpu fan or other fan or power cable not being connected to the mb ( one of the radiator FANs is connected to the cpu fan power pins on every attempt btw from the very start) the only other thought is to try a 3rd power supply??

At no time was either brand new amd 7950x powered without the water cooler mounted and screwed on properly so it seems unlikely it’s the cpus.

2 bad brand new gigabyte x670 Aorus extreme motherboards out of the box possibly ??

3 different types of bad brand new G.skill ddr5 memory kits bad out of the box possibly??

wide open to any ideas for am5 related new pc builds you ran into on ANY x670 motherboard brand?

attached some more photos. Some interesting ones are the photos showing

1. blank post led bank, never shown post codes or powered on even once
2. the low 24 watts of power drawn from new 850 watt platinum power supply

this happens with both identical gigabyte x670 Aorus extreme model motherboards and both 7950x3d processors.

In Bios is there a setting named - Secure Boot , perhaps toggled at : Other OS ?. It should be :Windows Boot.
That setting did tease me at some time.

So you replaced everything in the computer and still getting no post?

The only thing I can think of would be the BIOS update didn't take, or it auto swapped to the second BIOS (since it has two). Without a supported BIOS for the X3D CPU, it won't post.

Edit: Make sure you follow the QFLASH steps correctly. I've had times where the files was the wrong name. Other times the USB drive wasn't formatted to FAT32. There is room for error.
QFLASH GUIDE LINK

A. Before You Begin:
1. From GIGABYTE's website, download the latest compressed BIOS update file that matches your motherboard model.
2. Uncompress the downloaded BIOS file, save it to your USB flash drive, and rename it to GIGABYTE.bin. Note: The USB flash drive must use FAT32/16/12 file system.
3. Connect the power cables to the 12V power connector (connect either one if there are two) and main power connector.
4. Please turn on the power supply before connecting the USB flash drive to the Q-Flash Plus port on the back panel. B.

Using Q-Flash Plus Press the Q-Flash Plus button and the system will automatically search for and match the BIOS file in the USB flash drive on the Q-Flash Plus port. The QFLED or the Q-Flash Plus button will flash during the BIOS matching and flashing process. Wait for 6-8 minutes and the LEDs will stop flashing when the BIOS flashing is complete.

appreciate the idea And post Esk and how quick you replied . Thanks!

however in my post first line under the summary heading says never gotten video from the on board video out either the hdmi or displayport even once. Never once a signal detected.

since those integrated hdmi and DisplayPort outputs have never given any video or a video signal been detected by our daily used working monitor not willing to risk a new 4090 in these motherboards just yet

based on other web sites, the integrated dram LED and integrated vga LED on the motherboard need are next. These two are next in the bank of LEDs gigabyte literally put on the motherboard itself

Hey Dane, did you ever solve this problem? I'm having the same issue with an x670e aorus pro x and a 7950x3d. The computer was running wonderfully for over a month and now it only gives the red cpu led and won't do anything else, like yours was.

On some Gigabyte boards that have no display after a BIOS update. Taking out the battery for 30 seconds seems to complete the reset.

I havent recently done any bios updates, but I will try the cmos battery removal.

Appreciate the comment!

I would suggest trying other lower spec CPU's in the boards, see if they post.

What would that show me if this system has been functional for a month, but now is not?

Or are you responding to the original post?

responding to original post

You need to make your own post with your problem instead of hijacking the op's

This was caused on my system by the memory, try reseating it... Change the order.
