Need help - stabilizing my RAM for their stock 1600..

Hi,

I'm running on a 920 like everyone else, on a rampage II extreme board. It's all well cooled, and I use OCZ Platinum CL7 1600 MHz ram. 12 GB of it.

Right now, my problem seems to be that the screen won't turn on when running 200 BCLK, however that's been possibly before. What to look after?

I'm currently running at 4GHZ, using 21x multiplier and BLCK190. Problem is that, that underclocks my ram to 1523 MHz, and I hate that. I can't make it run stable at 200 BLCK and ram at 1603 MHZ, even though I lower the multiplier to 20, as to still only run at 4 GHz.

What could I do?

The result is usually a sudden BSOD, or last time it just froze and restarted. This isn't even when stress testing the system, but just by playing say WoW or CS.

If you need some more specific information, please ask. I'm not sure what you need

I hope someone can help. I think this newly found interest of mine is so exciting, I just need a little help. It feels so unsatisfying to have my ram be underclocked ^^

Thanks

Are you changing the memory divider when you OC Otto? If you had a Evga board I could probably help a little more...unsure what your bios looks like. Lot of ram to keep up with there...try less until you get it stable then add more to it later. Also give us a cpu-z screen of your memory timings/frequency at the problem spots if able.

What's full specs of your pc.

My full computer spec is:

Intel core i7 920 D0 stepping
Asus Rampage II Extreme RoG
OCZ Platinum 1600 CL7 - 12 GB
EVGA GTX295
Noctua CPU 1366 cooler
5x Noctua case coolers
Standard HDD (SSD's on their way!)

I'm not sure what else to include. The screenshot above is from my currently stable setup. The only thing I want is to just get my RAM to 1600hz too..actually I can't see why I can't take them to 1800, but for starters 1600 will be fine! I know from a review of those exact RAM, that they could potentially handle 1900 MHz.

And power supply?

Dimm voltage?

TBH, to me I don't see the point of going any faster than that. What an extra .05 of a second in SuperPI?

4ghz I7 920,12gb of ram at 1500mhz and a gt295 and your complaining :p

Also another quick question; Can you get them to run 1600mhz @ stock bclk?

Ah yes my PSU is a Corsair HX850. The DIMM voltage is 1.7 atm. It can run at 1.65, but I upped it a bit during my effort to get it running on at least stock.

It's not about gaining 0.5 in superpi or whatever, it's about getting the most out of what I got. Value for money :)

There's nobody who can say what I should look into? Please? :)

There is no need for you to be overvolting your ram at your current speeds...put it back at 1.65. There are a multitude of things that can go south when OCing, memory is always a prime suspect. As suggested earlier, have you tried running less ram to test with? I suspect you are running way more than you could possibly ever make use of. Take two or three sticks and run MemTest on them to verify, then begin troubleshooting with those sticks. It's all about reducing the variables. Hope this helped in some way.

So you reckon I'll be able to run the wanted speeds if I have less ram?

I'll try that, thanks :)

It is not the amount of ram you are using...I am trying to get you to a point where you can do some troubleshooting.

I've tried memtest with and without, and both works. I've also reduced the voltage as suggested. I even tried lowering the timings and the speed of the RAM, when setting the BCLK to 200, but that doesn't work anyway.
