Trust the clocks from ATI tool, the ones that 3D Mark shows are often inaccurate.

Are you upgrading from a previous system? If so, have you done a fresh Windows install?

If you had an AMD processor I am sure you would score higher. I had a P530 with 7800GTX and I scored 7200 ish. I know score 8900 or so.....but it still looks a bit slow. Is this on 1024x768 with no extras?

Benchmark Scores This varies from one driver to another.
Most people don't even know they are sharing an irq with their sound card or onboard lan adapter in some cases harddrive. When they try tweaking it or playing games they sometimes:
Obtain little to no increase in FPS (with a decent PSU), COD, BSOD and BS (black screen).
-hardware errors in xp
-other unusual pc problems

Most game forums are now discussing this issue to improve FPS in games but I think this also needs to be taken into consideration when tweaking your card as well.

Check to see if you are sharing irqs between your video card, sound card and lan card.

1. Click Start, right click on My Computer and select Properties.
2. Click on the Hardware tab and then the Device Manager button.
3. Go to the View menu and select 'Resources by type'.
4. Expand 'Interrupt request (IRQ)'

Do to the nature of HAL it's difficult to change IRQ settings in XP. Most folk most with hyperthreading/hypertransport should be on the APCI multiprocessor. However it's very difficult to change, even in bios do to it's lack of ability to assign an irq to a specific component.

If you upgrade from a 500 series to a 600 series you will need to partition and reformat your C:\drive. I had all kinds of problems when I upgraded from 540 to 660:
printer failed to work
X-fi drivers would randomly become uninstalled

there is definately something wrong with how u have configured or installed your x1800xt , do this download

driver cleaner PE , not just driver cleaner !!! ........... from the link below (follow exact instructions on how to use it)
http://www.drivercleaner.net/dc.htm

and then download the dhzeropoint drivers 5.11 from the same site below link (i linked it directly so u dont get lost)
http://www.driverheavendownloads.net/zeropoint.htm

and read this thread started by me about x1800xt problems (hope this helps)

5.12 and 5.13 drivers by ati for me were giving me a 3dmark05 of 9200 and 9350 respectively , and when i used the DHzeropoint 5.11 drivers at stock speed i scored 9506 and by overclocking a little i was able to hit 9812 .............. a newer version of drivers doesnt means it will work better ! ;)

With a brand new harddisk (WDC Raptor) , fresh installed windows xp, and Catalyst 5.12, I only have scored 7010 on 3dmark05 (up about 200pts).

Wanna to try zOaib reply.

Tks bro.

I think your card is defective, but that's a blind-sided judgement from me since I do not know the average bench is for that card... but for that card, I think you should be getting a higher score.

average bench for the card is around 8800 - 9000 .......... with the new catalyst 5.12 or 5.13 drivers .................... but i recommend using the modified drivers by independent programmers , like WARKAT , DHZEROPOINT , OMEGA ................... with dhzeropoint on my default clocks without overclocking i was getting 9450 ................. so go figure , ;)
