I'm surprised that I haven't seen a thread for Nehrim. An English version was just releaced a couple of days ago. So far this game seems great. The only way for me to describe it is that the world feels a lot more alive than it was in Oblivion. Based on what I've seen so far I highly recommend this mod. Here is a little more info on it.

What is Nehrim?

Nehrim is a Total Conversion for Oblivion. It contains a completely new, hand-built world, numerous quests, many exciting dungeons, new weapons, armors, items and spells, full German voice acting, a new soundtrack and much more. If you were looking for a mod that provides a full-fledged role playing game, congratulations, you found it.

Why should I play this?

1.) Nehrim is a game focusing both on story and classical RPG gameplay. You solve quests, earn experience points, collect better equipment. Although this sounds rather conventional, Nehrim finds a perfect balance between a stunning presentation and the actual game. If you are not motivated to proceed playing once you have started, you are probably doing something wrong.

2.) There is something to discover at every corner in Nehrim. Monotonous woods and impassionately designed dungeons? Not here! And honestly: Who wants to wander through landscapes you can find outside your own home? Nehrim includes sets of landscapes that have never been implemented in any game before.

3.) There is more to the story than "Go save the world". Much more. The characters have deep personalities, they change throughout the game. And who knows, there may even be some romance...

4.) There is going to be a new soundtrack. Our team musicians Simon W. Autenrieth and Lukas Deschel have been industrious so even acoustics freaks will be comfortable in the new world. Aside from these compositions there will also be a gig by Schandmaul, a popular Folk-Rock band, who kindly have provided a song for the project.

5.) Nehrim has an elaborate synchronization. And when we say elaborate, we're talking no less than 56 professional voice actors and a recording studio from Berlin that got our backs. Regarding this, Nehrim may just be one of the biggest synchronization projects ever having been undergone for a fan project.

6.) Nehrim is free. All you need is a copy of TES IV: Oblivion.

Where can I find screenshots and videos?

On our website http://www.nehrim.de there is a Media section containing screenshots, videos and the full soundtrack.

Where can I download Nehrim?

You will find all download possibilites on the website's Data section.

Sounds cool, but might not have heard of it because the German voice acting part. The description doesn't sound too different than the normal game, I wonder what the real differences are.

"If you are not motivated to proceed playing once you have started, you are probably doing something wrong."

Soo.. if I don't like the game, I'm incompetent? Great selling point guys, really :slap:

Otherwise this doesn't sound too bad, if this was an actual game and not a mod for a game/series I could never get into, I would probably bother trying it.

ill check it out and update ppl on how it runs etc this weekend :toast: ill do a complete run through of whats new in the game and give ppl a heads up also do a performance review as well

The biggest difference is that there is a real storyline. Exploration is also more rewarding. The landscapes also don't feel so copy and pasted. The leveling and skill system is different.

The German voice acting part doesn't bother me at all. I played rpgs for years with little or no voice acting at all. It's also pretty interesting having your opponents yell at you in German.

As far as performance goes don't expect Vanilla Oblivion performance. The game can stutter a bit and I had to turn a few things down. To be honest it doesn't run any worse than any other heavily modded Oblivion install that I've had, it has been more stable on the other hand. You can use OBSE and Oblivion Stutter remover which is a must in my book.

As always there is a fair amount of info on this mod at Bethsoft's forums.

i use a custom INI file to remove the cell loading stutter and i have far more gpu power so i should be fine there but ill still take a look

Oblivion doesn't take advantage of any more gpu power. It is a heavily single threaded cpu performance limited game especially when modded. Nehrim doesn't put a real load on my 280. I have yet to see any evidence that those tweaks at tweak guides do anything. Most of the tests that I have seen at Bethsofts forums by Oblivion and/or Fallout 3 modders have showed any improvement in performance.

its more loading on system ram by loading more info into the system ram u can remove cell loading issues etc it also stores other important info as Oblivion seldom makes good use of ram. By editing the ram used for loading and hold info it can stablize performance but it comes at a big performance cost.

my tweaks cause nearly a 75% performance hit but when its 180fps average outside it dosent matter that said there is no stutter no nothing and even tho its single threaded im able to handle nearly 25 npc companions that function properly in game even on a single core theres no issue the ini tweaks do work the problem is they have to be taken even further then the guides show to have a noticeable change on todays hardware

and so far total fail wont even let me start a new game it refuses click new game click yes and nothing happens

problem solved seems there installed didnt properly locate the oblvion files had to do it manually works now tho

well performance is lackluster its worse then all of the high quality texture and etc mods in oblivion combined and its crashed multiple times seems there mod dosent like crossfire at all period and outside average frame rate is in the low TEENS 15-25fps DOF effect is nice but needs alot of improvement most of there performance tweaks for options do nothing. Still needs more polish voice acting was a nice touch but still has a ways to go.

i should also mention the game has caused a few interesting issues

it will run fine then lose signal to monitors with no ability to fix that issue period on my 5k cards. That said i restarted and then restarted checked the event log and theres no errors. interesting yes?. disabling crossfire dosent not fix this issue disabling Cat AI does. but at that point performance is even worse lol.

beging feels uninspired and boring its basically the very first oblivion opening with a slightly tweaked setting but not enough to bother

the rat killing reminded me of Baldurs gate 10 + years ago old and tired after that boring crap was out of the way it got better but the begining is so uninspiring and boring i almost quit before i even got past the first area

Is there any neo-nazi subliminal messages in it?

They mod a fantasy game to a fantasy game? I want a sci-fi mod darnit! :(

I'd get it if HDR would work in Oblivion. really kills the game for me. :(

Never did find a fix.

The biggest change is the way leveling is handled. I hated the leveling system in Oblivion. Always worrying about which skills to use to get my 5x multi on 3 skills.

This is a point based system and once your points reach a certain point the only way to level them is using them.

i like it, only problem I have is that the voice acting is in russian.

well its free.

An English version was just releaced a couple of days ago.

So the English version is... in German

Lol I'm not complaining though, sounds like a very nice mod and perhaps being in a language I don't know might make it even more exciting! :)

Fallout 3 is post apocalyptic, not sci-fi.

Since there has not been an apocalypse that sort of makes it sci-fi ... no?

Anyway, the screens don't look a whole lot different than Oblivion to me.

So the German version is in Russian and the English version is in German ?

If that's so I won't get the English version but the German one! Because I understand Russian more than I understand German

Maybe the Russian version is in English. I'll get that.

I have been waiting for this for more than 2 years

I guess you could say it' Sci-fi, but compared to the average sci-fi I think it's far from those, I would compare it more to a zombie-esque feeling game, which those are pretty much post apocalyptic, not from nuclear fallout, but the world is still trashed.

Yep, the English version has English subtitles and menus but all of the voice acting is in German. AFAIK the voice acting on every version is in German, I could be wrong.

Anyway, the screens don't look a whole lot different than Oblivion to me.
Just downlaod it and play around. It really looks much better than vanilla Oblivion.

well after further tweaking i got it stable at 45-60fps 8xAA all settings maxed with further tweaks and there not the ONLY modders on the planet  as i said i originally had a full body replacer made and read to go but was unable to find a rigger who was better then me at weight painting as i dont use Blender etc i use Maya made the process alot more complicated then HGEC and the others came out and i said screw it lol wasnt worth the hassel that said im now running 136mods on my Oblvion install and can average 90+ fps outside with AA + HDR tweaks do work but there mostly from a stutter / smooth performance stand point i sacrifice higher fps for no stutter period and no cell loading lag. on top of it seems the game wasnt proper using crossfire after updating to 10.9 no issue seems this full makeover dosent like the 10.4 drivers. but loves 10.9 lol still dosent change the fact the begining is boring as dirt with the same basic quests ive seen in RPGS for the last 15 years so they didnt break the mold or do anything really all that interesting in that stand point
