hey guys so i have a n300 extender. it wont connect to my PC, says limited connection. or my roommates imac/iphone, which states incorrect password even when inputted correctly for sure. it will connect though, to my htc m8. very head stratch. i use ethernet so its not a problem for me but the extender is pretty crucial to roommates internet experience.

anyone have any ideas.

Get rid of it and get an access point, run some Ethernet and have a better connection. Extenders are super finicky...especially cheaper ones.

I highly recommend Ubiquity UniFi for an affordable AP with amazing range...rated for 400ft. The issue could be if you can't or don't want to run Ethernet.

Reset the n300 and start over...but as I said before its finicky...honestly not worth the hassle for what it is IMHO. I'd rather pull wire...less hassle and better results.

Does it rate the input signal from your wireless router? If so what's it rated at? Maybe you need to get closer.

range extenders are de debil

Seeing as you have the netgear extender already , most well use it.
If Range extender is setup correctly and range in not an issue, will be able to plug any pc in lan port and should have internet access ( via DHCP)

The way i would setup , should work on your config...

Setup

Configure router Wifi to:

1. Dhcp - Enable ( on Router )
Eg. router - 192.168.1.1
subnet - 255.255.255.0
2. Select Channel with least Ap's on - Eg .Channel 6 not "Auto"
3. Set Encryption to WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK
4. Set password

Range Extender

1. Reset Ap to Default

Connect to Ap -Via Lan

2. Set Pc to Dhcp ip , Or static in same Range think (192.168.1.*)

Log into Extender via ip think (192.168.1.254) or www.mywifiext.net or www.mywifiext.com
Set Ip setting to Same Router - 192.168.1.100
255.255.255.0
192.168.1.1

192.168.1.1

3. Save & Restart Ap - Log back into (may have to reconfigue static ip in range)

Go through the setup wizard and configure as Range extender
Set same password as Router Wifi

Restart Ap

hey guys thanks for the messages but i fixed it by resetting the adapter itself, recreating a ssid and password for the actual router itself and running through the extender setup again. roommate has 5 bar signal all the way across the house now instead of 2 bar ^^
