We are happy to let Rage3D exclusively host the first Catalyst external profile update. This is fresh off the press and below is a list of what will improve when a user installs the profile.

* Heaven – Crossfire profile
* Dark Void – Crossfire profile
* Singularity – Crossfire profile
* Unigine Heaven Demo – Crossfire profile
* Just Cause 2 -> Single GPU and Crossfire profile
* Battlefield Bad Company 2 -> Crossfire profile
* AvP -> Single GPU and Crossfire profile

Thanks,

Terry Makedon

Can we get a mirror here? They are getting hammered by 9000!!!

Is there anything we are supposed to do after installing?

Hope that it works. Last time I did this I had to uinstall and do a complete reinstall of the Cat excluding the profile. It made performance worst for me. This time I want to read people's opinions...

Play Games! App profiles merely configure the driver ot run in the best manner possible for the app you launch.

Before, this was part of the driver. Now, they can simply toss out profiles for games, rather than a whole driver, or hotfix.

Play Games!

So that means profiles are automatically added to CCC depending on the game being played? You don't need to go into Profile Manager and set it manually? :rockout:

No, Holger Grun(GDC 2010) said the app profiles are not user-selectable, as AMD/ATI feels confident that they know thier hardware best, and will configure it properly for you.

You can check the date for: C:\Windows\System32\atiumdag.dll
and few other ATI*.* files to see if that was changed. The date for the 10.3a release is 3/14/2010

You mean atiumd6a.cap, atiumd6a.dll, and atiumd64.dll?

Sure, what is your question then?

No question, just that the atiumdag.dll file name is different on x64, as seen above, for those that miss it, or did they rename?

I'm sure they didn't as it was already mentioned "and few other ATI*.* files..." it wasn't implied to only look at one file.

Well, those are all the 10.3a and profile files. Might be nice to know exactly what files are to profiling files....;) The file you mentioned does not exist on my HDD.

EDIT:
AHhh....it's in sysWOW64, not system32, in Win7x64. ;)

I'll tell ya. I had the 10.3a installed from a few days ago (Did a complete uninstall with driver sweeper etc.) and installed the profile update today.

In BF2 I'm getting a few FPS less than I was before. So either A: I need to do something else/confirm something else or B: It isn't working.

I'm running 2560x1600 with all advanced settings on high + 8xMSAA + 16x AF + Vsync Off + HBAO ON.

For the hell of it I'm going to unisntall everything again (I heard that there is a new driver sweeper as of a few days ago, but I can't seem to find it.) and see if it matters.

Oh so you just figured out I was talking about 32-bit and wasn't implying anything else :slap:. Making atiumd6a.cap, atiumd6a.dll, and atiumd64.dll in the wrong location earlier.

AH, yes, exactly. heh. You weren't specific enough. I blame you. heh. Both sets of files are there, one for X64, one for 32. The X86 files are labelled almost the exact same...both updated.

Yeah, I'm not noticing the "up to 75% in BFBC2" that was claimed. Maybe it's a stability fix...I'm stil lgetting the odd crash.

It only adds profiles for those few apps listed, too; only those apps should be any different. All previous profiles are included with th 10.3a driver package.

profile or no profile you still have CoNtRoL with the CCC and you have the ability to mess around with your own profiles for some sweet 2D clocking and I am sure you can do some sweetness to 3D too but I have tested that.

Certainly not complaining about the framerates I'm betting since 10.3 but I got my hopes up that it was going to be an insane increase and.. well.. it just about stayed the same. :D

Ya man been there too many times!:twitch:

Will this work with 9.12s? and whats the big deal with Crossfire Profiles?

The profiles that are in this file are not the same type of profile as what CCC sets. There is NO users interface to these profiles, as they typically dictate rendering modes for CROSSFIRE, while the CCC profiles are for CCC settings only.

The big deal is that we used to have to wait for a driver, when new games release, for proper Crossfire support. This way, there's no need to wait...ATI can hand out a new profile installer, just 500K, instead. Hopefully this means that in future, we get Corssfire fixes on day one of release, if not jsut after.

I thought setting the AI to advanced forced the performance rendering scheme. No?
