great just put this computer together and i get this....don't see any other error, can find out when this happens (just randomly) and temps are fine.....any ideas why this happens?:banghead:

You HDD seems to have a bad sector .

great so glad bought new stuff....perfect! how do i fix?

Windows doesn't give that type of error message.

You've got malware. Run, download and run malwarebytes if you can.

A quick search indicates that is a real Windows 7 error message.

Yes there are some pretty nasty ones out there.
Malwarebytes gets rid of most of them.

There have been few that malwarebytes has not resloved for me.

The last one I had come across from a customers PC which played snippets of a cheesy rock song depending on the amount of hard drive activity.

I eventually found it, removed it and kept it for myself to give to friends for a laugh since it was quite amusing.

so it is or isn't the hard drive?? malware? i have malwarebytes ill run scans in safe mode now....also how do i know if its my internal or external hard drive??

It's a bad sector in the hard drive where your OS is situated. Probably the internal drive.

after googleing for 10 mins, it does seem to be a legit windows error message... even after trying to google
"windows detected a hard disk problem virus"
i could not find any credible results...

i do not think this is virus related at all.

what you need to do is either
A: run a SMART scan on the HDD and post the results on here
then either
A1: leave the drive as it and continue as normal or
A2: RMA the drive

or B RMA the drive straight away.... thats pretty much every option you have.

If this is indeed legit, I would go into safemode and run HDTune Error test from there.
Should pop up with a red sector somewhere amongst the green if there is indeed a bad sector.

brand new PC wow.....so HDTune Error test is a program i take it?

Yes HDtune is great! it should find the problem but it will require a new hard drive if it finds errors

HDTune

Has an Error scan utility in it.
Also used for benchmarking, checking HDD temperatures and overall health of the HDD.

I tend to use it often at work to confirm a failing drive.

thanks guys....wish me luck ill get back to ya soon.

edit: ---- this hard drive a bad brand?? or just bad luck (IF IT SHOWS ERRORS)

Good luck.
The drive is quite popular at the moment.
My Brother went out and bought the 1TB F3 due to seeing the performance of them in one of his builds for a friend of his.

It's just luck unfortunately.

I just built a new OS on an F3 and no problems at all. Read a lot of good things about them.

This just happens sometimes. I've had to RMA stuff before.

I wonder if he found out what it was ?

ok so after scanning and using the error test( 2 hours) it was all green, and temp is fine its at 28c , ill do spy-ware scan in a minute, could it be the external drive?? i have it off and no error message...
