Hi, i have

Mortar max b450
Ryzen 3600
2070 super
32gb ram

I wanna update the cpu to 5800x3d or 5900x, just for UE5. Im working on open world game and got 20-30fps. (Its big game)

I have seen in puget bench, that the 5900x is overall better than 5800x3d. But the benchmarks are for specific things like "lightning baking" and other stuff i dont know about cause im just designing the map with trees etc. atm.

Whats most important for me atm is the raw fps i get in the editor.

Which cpu could benbetter there

hey devinthedude,
i´m not into that a lot and not sure where you´re mainly slowed actually, but i will give these 2 general advices regarding a direction to where to spend money with a chance of doing a good investment.
trade those as hints
https://docs.unrealengine.com/5.0/en-US/hardware-and-software-specifications-for-unreal-engine/
https://www.pugetsystems.com/recommended/Recommended-Systems-for-Unreal-Engine-200
if you click to the "Game Development" called link at pugetsystems they are at least 12Core and 64GB RAM, where the standard UE systems also has 12Cores but stays at 32GB.

i hope this helps you at least a bit ;)

for game development the 5900x is your best option
for Playing video games the 5800X3D is your goto
the reason is the 5900X has more cores/threads the 5800X3D has better gaming performance once all is rendered and baked due to its massive 96MB L3 cache

With that 2070s you think your problem is cpu?!!!:fear:

Crucial MX500 is 560 MB/s read.
I don't like that!
My HP is 3500 MB/s so yep, you better upgrade
