New GP104 ASIC Picture Hints at GTX 1080 with GDDR5X Memory

Well that would be very interesting to have the 1080 and 1070 be separated by a difference of memory like that but with the same amount. Will be cool to have them both benched together to see how big of a difference between the two there is (Besides the lowered performance from the loss of cores).

I am curious about this too. Personally, I don't think it will make a big difference.

The PCB is from an MSI Gaming card, so the GDDR5X claim may not be exactly true. Videocardz reported on it and noticed shroud mounting anomalies that matched MSI's gaming series cards.
Could be a vendor specific use of GDDR5X.
If that is the case then paying the premium for a gaming card may be worth it.
W.T.F????????? :shadedshu:
Sorry if you can't see the tongue in cheek. :(
Life's too short to worry about upsetting fanboys, I've got a mixed bag of stuff here and what ever does the job is good enough. I'd rather spend my time enjoying life than arguing over pointless stuff (pointless to me, that is)

Sarcasm doesn't translate well on the web... and lord knows how many fanboys there are here...

You should edit your double post while you are at it. :)

Waiting for the GTX1070, I don't care if it has GDDR5, just be it without crippled memory please...

For sure the 1070/1080 won't support Async Compute, and it's worse than crippled memory.

We gather around the table every night with the family and mourn together about the tragedy that we have Nvidia cards. The sadness is just unbearable. We have all these awesome PC games for years, and we can’t use async compute with them because the choice we made when we bought the parts for our systems. It feels like the pain will never go away. All we can do now is play with the games with smooth high framerates, turn on nice effects and features, listen to the silence of the slowly spinning fans, but nothing can fill the deep dark void what the lack of async compute causes in our hearts. We are suffering!

lol!

I'm itching to upgrade my 970, looking at the 300-350ish euro segment. If the 1070 will be just a 980 I will be disappointed.. Very close to 980ti would be great. Fingers crossed. Although, I think I'll be jumping ship again, where are you Polaris?
