Im thinking of getting a Linksys WRT54G2 router to replace my rubbish Thomson one. I want to know if i can limit the amount of bandwidth available to certain people on the WiFi network?
 
yup this device can limit the bandwidth of computers that are connected to the network. both wired and wireless. You just need to go to the web base utility of the router normally its http://192.168.1.1 and then login to it. Next go to the application and gaming tab of the router then click the sub-tab QoS. This is where you can set the bandwdth control
 
you can with most routers, but the quality of the firmware differs. iiwy i'd go for a router that supports wwrt if you are comfortable flashing your hardware and doing a little reading. If not, read through the manuals of the router before you buy to see how easy/complicated the process is
