new stick of ram

tried search, but didnt find anything satisfactory.

so I i ordered a stick of kingston ram (1x1gb). will it work with my (2x512 vm green), and is the vm green still running in dual channel??

If you are running 3 DIMMs in four slots, it won't run in dual channel, the modules work in pairs in dual channel mode. The Kingston should work fine.

They will all switch to single channel if you have three DIMMs in the slots, they will also run at the speed and latency of the slowest module. Dual channel only works with two or four modules. You would have to buy another 1GB stick in order to enable dual channel again. Don't worry though, even losing dual channel you will get better performance with that extra gig of memory.

So it's possible to run 2x 512 and 2x 1 gb in dual channel. I did not know that.
I was planning to get a 2 gb dual channel kit but i thought it could not run together.
Does it affect performance?

It shouldn't. Unless the 2x512s are inferior in speed or latency to the 2x1GB. Just pair the 1GB in slot 1 and 3 or 2 and 4, and the 512s in a similar arrangement.
