ok im itching to build me a new pc but i was thinking of getting a 2600k is it and upgrade or a downgrade from what i currently have and would it be worth it or not?
probably going to be using my gtx 480

it would be a upgrade, but not much of one. Except for less heat produced, you probably won't even tell a difference in real world use.

Would make a pretty good difference in gaming performance at higher resolutions.

i game at 1920x1080 right now as it is.

but i was also fiddling with the idea of going sandy bridge - E also so

Keep it until Ivy Bridge. April launch, see then.

Wait for Ivy Bridge. And probably by that time there would be Kepler cards out too from Nvidia. So you could think of upgrading from your GTX 480 as well.

well it will be awhile before i get my taxes back. and about my card i dont know if i will be upgrading it since the gtx480 still a powerful card i know when i do get my taxes back will only have 1000 dollar budget.

My advice, keep the i7 920 and buy another 480 or even 2 more :)

I don´t understand why people need to change CPU / GPU so often....

I´am using a very old AMD cpu for the past 3 years with DDR2, 400GTX Series and still manage to play BF3 @ 1920x1080 - AA16 /AF16 with more than 100fps.

On low? That completely contradicts every review out there that has to do with the game.

Have you see the price of a 980X???

Freak> Sell your I7 920, Board, and ram then pickup 2600K Z68 motherobard and 8GB DDR3

Ok tomorrow I will make a nice video with fraps for you guys.
Last time I check: 1 GTX 45fps, 2[SLI] 73fps 3[TriSli]96fps

thats what i was probably going to do is sell it or make a cruncher or file server out of it and i was thinking more on the lines of 16GB of ram since i do alot of video encoding and the price of ddr3 is pretty cheap.
