Newegg Puts an End to Counterfeit CPU Saga

The controversy surrounding Newegg's shipment of counterfeit Intel Core i7 920 processors to some customers has finally met its logical conclusion, with Newegg disposing facts and making great headway in resolving the issue with affected customers. In a statement to HardOCP.com, Newegg said that it is conducting a thorough investigation in collaboration with Intel and law-enforcement agencies, to get to the bottom of how counterfeit merchandise could get into its supply chain.

I do hope they were disclosing facts and not disposing of them! ;)

Interesting story. Thanks for the update.

Finally end of story, all wronged customers were taken care of immediately and Newegg(along with Intel) make a full denouncing of these counterfeits. Too bad Newegg is getting stuck with the bill and out 300ish i7 920's.

Newegg has an unblemished account from my experience. They've continued to impress nearly every person who's ordered from them.

I'm almost positive Newegg isn't as lenient to their business partners as they are their customers.

I agree, hope they uncover the mystery about this whole ordeal.

at least its solved now

I wonder how the termination of relations with IPEX will impact Newegg and how major a supplier they were for the Egg?

This wont affect Newegg hardly at all, now IPEX on the other hand has just lost a pretty big distribution contract, thats going to smart.

Closed thread as P-40E seems to have started a new one more relevant.
