Ive turned down the cars engines and tweaked everything in less then 30 secs on the options. In my opinion the sound is great but i dont have my plantronics 377 gaming headset. Just ipod headphones. My freinds a sound freak, he had to buy the 100 dollar xfi sound card and the bad ass bose headset for crazy sound, he says most shit sounds terrable XD

i like burnout. this way racing games should be. realism is for FPS:p

Burnout is way to different to control, its like not a car but something else, you cant tell its like driving a car!

To add my own tidbit the game graphcs wise is basically NFS Prostreet track and GRID car put together. It supports up to 8xaa and 1920x1200. I would expect more AA with a more modern game. GRID supports up to 16x.

The handling is very much like Prostreet, a more sim feel to it. Even with assits turned on GRID is easier to handle.

Sound. The sound absolutely sucks horribly. All you hear is REALLY LOUD CARS THAT YOU CANT TURN DOWN AT ALL. ITS ALMOST AS ANNOYING AS TRYING TO READ ALL THESE CAPS.
I hope they fix the sound soon.

Umm grid has 16x cuz it takes so much AF to make it look good whereas nfs already looks good without AF...

I really hate prostreet but i do know this is better in everyway.

As for sound we have a option call engine sound you can turn that off! DUH!! and turn the in racing music to max DUH!!! HOPE THIS SOLVES UR MAJOR PROBLEM

I would expect to have the sounds when racing because when u race a you dont have headphones providing music! rather information by ur team.

Be greatful it has option to turn the engine sound off and other sounds off or on!!!

Its not hard if you have the default driving mode on. Turn off the adaptive breaking, adaptive steering, stability control, traction control and anti-lock breaks and its much harder! I actually really like that game so far from the demo.

Need for Speed is back!

Im like your friend, but then again ive never really found a racing game that had decent sound support anyways so i just deal. Least it looks pretty.

How is it better in every way? Its practically the same thing and they stole the decent stuff from GRID and added it. I was playing Prostreet this morning and last night and the only real differences i can see are the menu system, cars (GRID like cars), in car racing, and a tweak to the graphics engine. Other than that its the same as Prostreet down to the cheater line on the track.

As for the sound, i HAVE turned down the engine sound, and i DONT use music in any game period. Wel thats a lie, i listen to music in the Final Fantasy series :p
Its just there is no racing game that has exceptional sound to date.

Well you cant say stole everything because everyone has to grow up some time and this is nfs time!! :rockout:

well its better than prostreet in control as by my expirence options and well prostreet was a mujor suckout! Grid isint at its best either, comparitivly the camera was the 1st thing noticed, its still if u hit anything, nfs has more detailed landscape as compared to grid
(also seen on youtube).
the cars are better detailed and recovering from an accident (flashback) option removed
(Never happened to me in real life when i tried)

Story isint much of there but better than prostreet, If its better than grid in even small incriments its still better to play it (that it is)

The cars sound damn good imo, at least through my Auzen Forte + JVC HARX700 combo. I'm really impressed with this game, just got the EADM version done a little bit ago, and I gotta say it provides a well polished game presentation with decent gameplay that's got a good mix of elements that make it entertaining to play and race. Plays silky smooth maxed out on my rig, looks damn good, xbox 360 controller is perfect for it, I definately prefer this game to Grid...Grid just never could keep me hooked, this hooked me from the first race in the demo. I am a GTR/Race, Gran Turismo and Forza fan. Hell I even enjoyed Pro Street, good to see didn't mirror image pro street there were some serious issues that game had, but I still enjoyed it.

Overall I gotta say I'm pretty content with the purchase, and I'm glad they finally got away from that underground style crap and back to a racer. Underground would've been fine had it not been taken any farther imo. But I was a huge fan of the original, hot pursuit and most wanted series (MW was a blast even with it's underground-esque open world design). But I do dig the tracks on Shift and the mentality and polish overall...it won't please everyone, if you want more arcade get Burnout Paradise, if you want more sim, get GTR Evolution, or go console, eventually you'll find what you like.

Have you seen the second controller option in the menu? You can adjust all the dead zones and sensitivities there
