NIC disappeared!

Hi all,
I was playing some SF4 online and suddenly my PC started skipping sound and PC restarted in 2seconds after that.
I thought that's my overclock is failing so I increased Vcore voltage, booted into windows and went to play SF4 again. I connected to Windows Live, found a match, we both connected and the same sound skipping/PC restart happened at character selection screen.
So I rebooted again and next time I see that my NIC is gone. I checked BIOS and it's enabled. I tried booting with disabled and then enable it again - no deal.

I guess those PC crashes were caused by my NIC. Will I need a mobo RMA or is there something else I can try?

Try reinstalling the drivers. Could be a driver issue with windows.

If the BIOS see's it, then it's fine. It is just windows that doesn't see it. Maybe someone else can chime in.
I would hate to say reinstall your OS and see if it comes back. So device manager doesn't show it correct?

Yea it's not in Device Manager, EveREST not showing it either. It's like the card is not IN the PC.

Although I found the answer!
Cleared CMOS and next boot windows installed the device.

GOD! I'm so happy it works! I would so pissed... the disconnecting of mobo, the removing of CPU and heatsink, the sending, the waiting... then installing of EVERYTHING aaaagaaaain. Mobo RMA must be the most troublesome experience ever...

Usually if ya just power off the pc, and go over to your hub and plug your cable into a new slot, usually does the trick without having to reset your your cmos. Common problem between realtek nics and hubs, lol.

Oh. I also tried unplugging the PSU for 5minutes though.

Glad it's fixed for you. Sounds like the cmos settings got corrupted. On my Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P mobo, I lost one of the two onboard NICs for no apparent reason. Turns out that the BIOS setting to turn off clocks on the unused NIC turns it off completely.

Plugging the network cable into the other NIC and rebooting made just that one visible and disabling that BIOS option restored the second one.
