"I preclude all I am saying with the fact that I have had a few bevies today."

It really is sad that we live in a time where if you are a serious Gamer that you need to spend upwards of $2000 to build a mid range Gaming PC. It is also sad that mining is being blamed for something that is out of the hands of TPU or anyone for the matter. As I have stated before Bitcoin at $50,000 created a "gold rush" frenzy that meant that GPUs became once again a focus of the people interested in Mining coin.

The problem (oppurtunity) with Nice Hash and hence the affordability if Ad campaigns are feasible is the ease of use. Now that they have established mutual funds it is here to stay. Back on point though the people who are complaining the most are those who have saved the money in the expectation of 3000 and 6000 series cards and seeing that their gamble was right but not being able to get a 6800 or 3070 (totally dependent on Geography) for a decent price. The 6700XT has confirmed it $479 US is already a high asking price but nothing compared to what you currently pay for a 6800XT.

Unfortunately even now the PC space (which was always a luxury item) is being gentrified with compelling cards costing over $1000 (A great Gaming PC in 2016) and CPUs that are over $400. The problem is PC Gaming has always (until recently) been a niche space as anybody born past 1970 had to have parents (or access to) that could afford PCs to get into the them in the first place.

I really feel the angst stems from seriously disgruntled Gamers that want their fix but can't get it. The truth though is at the end of the day (unless you are affluent) you will be more than happy to be making dollars a day to pay back for the eye watering cost of modern GPUs. For those of you who are worried about this Intel (as I fall off my chair) will be your friend as I expect that they will be very aggressive with the price of their GPUs. I distinctly remember the 660P being 40 to $50 cheaper than every other PCIe 3.0 NVME drive available in Canada. As evidenced by Polaris Raja knows that if you want to sell cards price/performance is the key. If you doubt me realize that Polaris was AMD's best selling GPU chip since Tahiti.

At the end fo the day I want us all to just enjoy the fact that we are all enthusiasts and Mining is no more evil than Gaming so there is not need to rant on an ad that reflects the reality of the space.

FFS! Havent you heard for AdBlock?
we dont want to block the ads here. The goal is to make the ads nice enough that they dont need to be blocked, as TPU needs ad revenue to exist

I still block it as a general rule in NoScript. Google Analytics never runs on my systems.
Agreed, same here

Actually it looks like Nicehash will not be renewing. While we had the best conversion rate of all their "traditional" advertising, they say the conversion rate for their YouTube ads is still higher, which kinda makes sense given our audience and the audience on YT :)

I don't think they needed to renew. The traffic that this thread created alone has done enough. In my opinion there are just as many Mining channels as PC channels on YT. I totally get what they did with this campaign though. As good as Nice Hash is it is still not as common as it will be after being on TPU. There are plenty of Enthusiasts that are not frequenting Youtube but may come to TPU once a week. I still stand by my support for the ad (as bold as it was) and TPU as to me you guys should be inert when it comes to opinions on aspects of entities that are realities in the PC space. Mining has been added to the things we have been learning to do with our electronic brains.

By that logic we would run most campaigns for only one week, yet the overwhelming majority of our advertisers is running full year, with long contracts and they keep renewing every time.

Yes but we are talking about something totally different than most of those. Nicehash is not advertising anything for you to buy but offering a service but unlike Netflix the only cost of admission is your computer. It has the concept of "free money" associated with it so it really only needs exposure.

Nicehash is very much selling a product (mining pools). It's just that their payment method for it is rather ... unorthodox?

I read through about 7 pages so if I miss something, sorry..

Yea, I sure as hell don't like bitcoin mining farms. I just also know TPU needs to keep the lights on, so if they wanna pay for an ad, Its alright by me. The way I look at it is this- Bitcoin miners paid TPU to allow us to talk bad about them. lol.

That said, I've been very tempted to do some mining on my GPU during the day on my Vega 64 just to make some spare $$ every month to put towards a new GPU down the road.

Besides I havent figured out a way to get it out of there, so it is really useless money for now. At least I could buy myself a 3080Ti but CKing stopped accepting coins at some point.

At least you're waking up. Now the rest...

You can get the money out though? Why not? I'd do it while you're still winning, tbh, its the only way to approach this. Get your investment back asap, see where the rest goes, maybe take out some more. until you hit some number you feel confident leaving there.

My GF works it that way :p
