oh, i hope they do take care of it lets see what happensYou can use an old monitor with a new-ish graphics card with the right converter (not the same as adapter!) as long as it's not ancient, well, you could as long as you have a DAC and some knowledge but I doubt OP has an IBM 5151 as a display anyway.
As for the pads... I really doubt the warranty would want to take care of that, they'll most likely blame it as an user fault or problem with the motherboard. The mobo manufacturer won't replace a CPU as it's not their thing and say sorry have a nice day, it's bureaucracy hell.
