No drive found during boot-up

Windows froze on me and I was forced to restart my pc. After doing so I booted up and I got a message that no drives were found. Therefore, I booted from disc decided to repair the OS. At this point I chose to repair the OS and I got a message claiming I should disconnect any MP3 player. So I did and the computer restarted the computer and got the same message...

I decided I would do a fresh install and in trying to do so the windows installer couldn't find my drive...Anyone have an idea of what I should do?

It might be corrupted partition table. Try a utility called TestDisk, should find it easy enough with google. It fixed my data HDD in seconds, although that was run from a CMD prompt window. I believe you can use it in DOS as well though.

Can you see your hard drive in the Bios?
If you can and there is no loud clicking noise , you may be able to slave the hard drive off of another PC and then right click the hard drive in question from windows on other PC and select properties and then tools then repair and select both box's for repair operation....I have saved peoples hard drives that had these same issues as long as the hard drive was not shot.
If it works and the hard drive is by chance truly defective then you may be able to ghost the drive from there.GOOD Luck !!! :toast:

What do I do with that burn it to a disk and boot from it?

Additionally, how will that help if my drive has disappeared.

WOW now I feel like buying a bottle of jack and a glock because of this. I booted my computer up just now and it went straight to Vista...Works fine now. Ridiculous.... I Stayed up till like 5am trying to fix that hdd.

And maybe check the cableing inside your PC? Sometimes it can be something as simple as a not well connected/broken cable... Windows could have crashed because of that.

My brother like tapped the cable for the hdd in my old computer and then I had pretty much the same problem except it would work for about half an hour before dying.
