Noctua Showcases Next-Generation CPU Coolers at Computex 2018

Noctua is preparing updated versions of its NH-U12, NH-U14S, NH-C14S, NH-D15, and NH-L9x65 CPU coolers. The cooling specialist took the opportunity to showcase the prototypes at their booth. The fifth generation of the NH-U12 will come with seven heatpipes and up to 37 percent more surface area than the previous NH-U12S. The CPU cooler will feature two NF-A12x25 120 mm fans in a push-pull configuration. Noctua also promises excellent memory, case, and motherboard compatibility. The company's next-generation 140 mm U-Type CPU Cooler will be based on its award-winning NH-U14S. Improvements include 30 percent more surface area and seven heatpipes instead of six. The heatsink's asymmetric design will allow for better PCIe clearance and 100 percent memory compatibility when in single fan mode. Noctua will update their 140 mm C-type CPU cooler as well. Based on the NH-C14S, the new iteration will provide improved and quieter cooling performance.

Although the NH-D15 is already a powerhouse of an air cooler, Noctua plans to kick it up a notch. The upcoming model will get the heatpipe treatment as well putting the total to seven instead of the six heatpipes on the previous iteration. The additional heatpipe provides up to 16 percent more volume and contact area between heatpipes and fins to further boost cooling performance. Noctua also had a 65 mm low-profile CPU cooler on display. With a footprint of 95 mm x 95 mm, the cooler is based on the NH-L9x65 and employs a NF-A9x14 PWM fan. It's been resdisgned to provide 100 percent memory and PCIe clearance with Intel motherboards, and on most AMD motherboards including the mini-ITX form factor. It will come with Noctua's award-winning SecuFirm2 socket that supports the AM4 socket out-of-the-box.

Noctua has always been way too expensive imo, but it's always exciting to watch them unveil new products. The ugly color theme has a perverted type of appeal as well.
 
My current U14S has been excellent and I like the color combo, it took some time to grow on me though admittedly. My next build will most likely use a Noctua cooler. Great performance, warranty, support, build quality...definitely get what you pay for here.

I really like that Blacked-Out D15. It's calling to me.
I really like massive air coolers in general. I have a Cooler Master MasterAir Maker 8 and it's a fine cooler.
 
I dig the blackout look, but I never had a problem with the Noctua colors. The new U12 with the Sterrox fans and 7 pipes looks like an absolute BEAST for its size, I'll be waiting for a TPU review of that 'sink!
 
Very happy with my NH-D15S, performance is in line with the price. Bit on the heavy side though.

And when there's a socket change, you'll generally get for free the adapter for said socket, even if you misplaced the cooler's invoice.

In my case, the cooler was already discontinued for around 3 years (not sure: could be longer), but i still got an adapter to be able to use it with AM4 platform.
 
That's awesome that they did that for you! I've heard of them being really good with that, even with lost invoices...I've never had the opportunity yet. But how impressed I've been with the U14S, fans, etc. I've purchased from them, they've definitely got a repeat customer here. :D

They don't require the invoice:

We strictly require a valid proof of purchase (electronic version or scan/photo of the invoice) of both a Noctua CPU cooler and either an AM4 motherboard or AM4 CPU in order to process your request. In case you've lost the invoice of your Noctua CPU cooler, please write your full name and the current date on a piece of paper, take a photo of the paper next to your CPU cooler and upload it as proof of purchase. Please note that your name has to be clearly readable and that we can't process requests without proper proof of purchase.

In fact, at similar noise levels, better than most 120/140 AiO from the reviews I've seen. I would recommend to anyone who is willing to spend a bit more. For myself though, I always find something with a little bit more value for the dollar :rolleyes:

Yep, I'm a sucker for big ass heatsinks too. If only that black Noctua was out when I was building my current rig... had to 'settle' for a DRP3.

Agree 100%- they're the best in this kind of support. I was able to get an AM4 kit for my D14 and U14S with no trouble at all. took about a week to get both of them.

Scythe is my current 2nd favorite behind Noctua- The Mugen 5 RevB is nearly perfect imho
