The motherboard makes a noise (which resembles that of the hard drives that are old and are breaking - or - also to the emitting some VGA under load). Noise is issued only when it is read / written to the hard disk, for example, at startup of windows, in a copy/paste etc. Not in other cases, for example if you make a stress test as prime95. Noise coincides "precisely" with Orange LED sata motherboard that light use. I tried to insert disks in various connectors sata card. I tried different hard drives. I left the hard drive out of the case in order to verify that the noise was just from the motherboard, and not from the discs. This noise seems to come from the area of the voltage regulators and capacitors that are around the CPU.

You know what you can handle and like trying to solve?

I'm not sure either what this is, but I've experienced the same problem with MANY different motherboards over the last three years. It's become the first thing I listen for when I put a build together. The H61 series and Dell (primarily Dell e5520/e5530 on the business end and all inspiron series) laptops are where I've run into this problem the most. It's kind of like a high pitch coil whine like you would hear from a power supply, but at a slightly lower pitch and usually sounds off during writes/reads as mentioned by RoboX. Annoying as hell for those with sensitive ears.

Best,

Bad sample or the board does not like your PSU...

A quote from jonnyguru site about this shitty Corsair, they should be scolded doing so, who cares it is a Seasonic, they design cheap stuff...

Last time we tested a Corsair PSU, an assumption was made that the rails were split up like other 3 rail power supplies on the market: CPU on it's own rail to conform with ATX12V specs and the PCI-e connectors on their own rail so they can be loaded up to that rail's maximum capability.

After the 620W was dissected following the publishing of the review, I found that one PCI-e connector was on one rail with two peripheral connectors while the other PCI-e connector was on another rail with the three peripheral connectors. Assuming that the PSU was following ATX12V specifications, I concluded that the CPU (via 4-pin +12V or 8-pin EPS+12V) was still on it's own rail and that the 12V leads on the ATX connector must be on the rail with the one PCI-e connector and two peripheral connectors.

Now I come to find out, after looking closely at the PCB and speaking with individuals at Corsair, that the PSU actually DOES NOT follow ATX12V specifications and that I was wrong about the rail distribution AGAIN!
