I had to do this because I'm banging my head against the wall with another Windows 8 hardware problem. Some times it is good to count your blessings and back off until you can get a fresh start to get around that brick wall without bricking your gear or making irreversible mistakes and loosing your project. I have been working with the Nokia and Microsoft Lumia series phones and software since 2019. In fact I still use a Lumia 950 as my daily phone! I also love the Lumia 1020 as the best camera phone that I've ever used. I look for phones that I call "Blinkers". I have bought over a dozen of these phones over the past four years. The Lumia 1020 tends to get used and then abandoned as newer more powerful hardware comes to market. I like to get the original 8.0 Windows versions because they have the original OEM Nokia Pro Cam software installed. I have a yellow one from a lot of 3 I got in 2018. Fast forward Feb, 2023. I see a "Blinker" with a good screen. I get it for less than $50. I start charging it with all the critically low power alerts and stuff. I get it to full power and look at the date and time. It says July, 19, 2013! In the settings it says Windows Phone 8.0! Now the worst thing you can do is to try to upgrade to Windows Phone 8.1. Leave it like it is and enjoy the original 41MP Gangster Phone camera that you now own. Oh and don't forget to change the date and time!
