Hello @unclewebb and everyone! Hope someome can help me with my issue or point me at the right direction...

So, here is my issue... I have a laptop paired with an i5 7200u, which have a nominal tdp of 15W that I cannot change in any way... Editing Power limits in throttlestop doesn't change the 15W cap. I read in some other post that sometimes the tdp is set in various places, and therefore the lowest value Wins. I already checked MMIO and the Pl bit is already set to 2, I dont know where else I can look into It using OS...

I have a full unlocked BIOS, but changing the tdp there didn't work either... I tried Messing with dptf and thermal configs in BIOS but nothing worked... Under cpu Power options there is a "platform Power limit 1 and 2" with a value of "95000" but everytime i set a diferent value, or even disable, It resets to stock settings on save and exit. Maybe that tdp is controlled by EC FW? If thats the case, can I mod that firmware in any way?

i Hope @unclewebb can Tell me If there is any specific BIOS setting, ir something else that I should change to throttlestop be able to configure tdp...

I know that cpu can reach at least 25w by Nature, but acer does not facilitates

The temps are always low btw, so i know thermal limits are not the problem

Many laptops from major manufacturers with 7th Gen U processors use the EC to enforce the 15W TDP limit. I do not know any easy way to get beyond this limitation.

Make sure you have checked the FIVR - Disable and Lock Turbo Power Limits option and that you have set the power limits in the TPL window both to 25W. If you are still throttling at 15W long term then you are out of luck.

Power limit throttling is not temperature related. Temps can be great and you will still be forced down to 15W. Bad design.

thanks! disable and lock turbo power limits helps my problem! what it does actually?

what it does actually?
Intel CPUs use multiple sets of turbo power limits. That option locks out the secondary set of power limits that some manufacturers use. When it works, it is like magic. :)
