Hello

I have this laptop ( i5 12500h , rtx 3050 4gb ) that i´ve used for 1 year flawlessly and it just randomly started freezing

I´ve changed ssd and ram as well ( that was the first day i got the pc ) and it worked as intended during 1 year but now even when browsing on chrome it will freeze

Already formatted and the issue still happens

I´ve always used latest drivers and stuff

Ran memtest86 , checked the ssd health with crystal disk info and it all passed

Also did the own dell diagnostic , it passed as well

One thing to note is that i´m using hybrid graphics off ( i5 12500h igpu disabled , only rtx 3050 ) and e-cores disabled

Would e-cores disabled somehow freeze my pc ?

bios also latest version

i´m at a loss , i´m thinking my motherboard is somehow dead ? i´m using it then it completely freezes ( keyboard stay lightened up and laptop screen remains on even with the laptop closed )

I don´t think i can use the warranty as well since it doesn´t show any issues on dell diagnostics yet my computer is freezing

anything i should try maybe ? is the latest bios causing freezes maybe ? i can´t think of anything else

thanks

Try re enabling the e cores... they're could be kernel scheduler issues with windows with those

I think I see what's going on - you think you disabled the hybrid graphics, but the RTX 3050 doesn't support hardware mux (Advanced Optimus), this means you cannot disable hybrid graphics configuration your laptop unless you buy the RTX 3060 version. If yours has the RTX 3050 indeed and you just disabled the Intel GPU on device manager/didn't install the Intel graphics driver, there's your answer. On the RTX 3050-equipped Dell G15 models, the laptop's internal panel is connected to the integrated graphics and the RTX operates headless unless there is a monitor attached to the HDMI port.

It's running everything on the Microsoft basic driver in that case. You need both the Intel and the NVIDIA driver installed. Don't worry, it will not cause a compatibility issue, on my G15 5515 (Ryzen 5600H CPU), I need to have both the Radeon and the GeForce drivers installed at once as well. Use Windows graphics settings to manually assign an application to the iGPU or dGPU.

thanks everybody for the response guys

I´ve re-enabled the e-cores and the issue still persists ( now the windows freezes then the computer shuts down by itself )

I had to press the button to turn it on again , it did not restart

Note that this is not happening while gaming , happens while browsing on chrome ( light load )

Is the dell diagnostic tool reliable ? i´ve ran it countless times and ran memtest as well and they always say that the computer is 100%

I´ve got denied warranty due to the diagnostic despite having some issues

Is it possible to be the ram maybe even if it shows ok on memtest ?

Thanks

I´ve noticed in the event viewer it shows bad module info as well but i don´t know which program / software it is related to

The diagnostic tool will not detect misconfiguration, which is likely what's going on with your laptop. Did you make sure you have BOTH the Intel and NVIDIA drivers installed? Have you installed and updated the Alienware Control Center? Do both of these.

I still didn´t but i´m worred this shutdown could sign something else

i mean , freezing is one thing but shutting down by itself seems more serious

when the shutdown happened i was using bios default settings
