yes ........ but completely irrelevant when discussing a new gfx card for this dude, its price/performance is pretty darn good, the history should'nt really play a part in his decision at all, except for the drivers being mature.

that's not intirely true, considering he's thinking of either the GTS250 or the 9800GT, I would think letting him know that the GTS250 is infact a updated 9800gtx is relevant to this discussion.

The GTS250 will be a little bit faster... the GTS250 is a rebranded 9800GTX+, which is a 9800GTX with a modified BIOS (higher clocks and voltages and such), which is pretty much a 9800GT but with 16 more shaders. Expect 5 or so more FPS. The 9800GT is a rebranded 8800GT. Basically, by choosing the GTS250 you get 16 more shaders, higher default clocks, and more voltage which means more overclocking headroom. The price difference is about $20. If I were given a choice between these two cards I would shell out the extra $20 for the GTS250

if you have this,why you asking for a 9800GT or 250GTS? this your brother computer or something??
And go for whatever cheapest they both will handle crysis perfectly and bare in mind 9800GT is just a re-branded of 8800GT

What gets me is why is he worried about a GTS250 or 9800GT fitting in his case when he has 3 GTX280 crammed in there apparantly

As far as bottlenecking goes, imagine a scenario where you are playing Quake 3 with an i7 975 and a 9500GT... your performance won't improve in Quake 3 by going from the 9500gt to 3 GTX280s, or by overclocking the 975 through the atmosphere.

So he's pulling our leg, at least in one way. Maybe he really is 9 and wants us to think he's cool because he has a high powered rig. It wouldn't suprise me. Kids will be kids. If he really is 9 like he says he is than I say props to the kid for getting this far on picking parts to make a high powered rig (minus the motherboard of course).

your first post you never mentioned it was for your brother..and i highly doubt a 9 year old can know all that on computering,if you did then your parents must be really spoilt on you..if you was saving for 4 years then you was 5 years old since you know about a computer?? i don't even think a 5 year old even have that kind of knowledge up until you hit around 12+

I was thinking the same, however it's possible he was just saving money with no definate objective in mind.

1.GTS 250 with SAMSUNG ram, they go some of them up to 2800Mhz.( they have bios with 6D,7D in the name, HYNIX has ONLY DIGITTS.)
2.9800GTX+ with Hynix, Samsung, etc, better CORE clocks.
3.GTS 250 with Hynix..... poor option, the last one.
