NVIDIA Announces New Game Bundle, Requires GeForce Experience to Activate

I just formatted my PC in October, and I'm almost positive that Origin just picked up the present game files in my installation directory and then reinstalled them just like Steam does.

I just did it a few months ago also, and Origin required complete downloading again.

Not really. As @VulkanBros says, install, register, get free game, uninstall and never use GE again. Nobody is being forced to use it, it's gentle coercion using AAA(?) game offer.

OORR; Buy your video cards for the video cards and ignore the "free game" crap. It's a sales gimmick. Be smart.

I don't even pay attention to the free game crap anymore and have never once redeemed any free download. Most of the time, like in the case of the offer referred to in this article, the games are crap anyway.

Trust me, you have to. Steam instantly recognizes them, but Origin just doesn't. Unless it's a bit different if you have all the stuff in Program Files. Which I don't.
True. Only Steam game in my library which required a re-install for some reason was Crysis. But Origin actually saves the installation files IIRC.

I was pretty sure I didn't have to, but wasn't sure, so I used my X58 system, installed Origin, changed the game directory to something different and copied over my ME and DAI installs to see if it would try to download them or just reinstall, hit download and it switched over to preparing and then installed them, didn't have to re-download, not sure why some are having to, but it doesn't surprise me.

I also found this:
https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/origin/origin/backing-up-and-restoring-your-origin-games/

I just copy and paste or with my main system just change the game directory to my HDD and it reinstalls.
