Hey peoples
Currently trying to upgrade to the latest NVIDIA Driver version, since I've just upgraded from a 970 to a 1080. I'm running the Windows October update, Version 1809 build 17763.379
I have clean installed the old drivers in safe mode with DDU, I've done a fresh install of Windows to make sure theres no corrupt updates, but I just can't seem to get it working.
Pls help. It's 5am and Im dying here

what version of the drivers specifically?

Windows automatically installed DCH drivers. Basically DCH versions of nVidia drivers. Removing them is not an easy thing, but there's trick which I never tried myself, apparently Geforce Experience is able to uninstall the DCH drivers properly, and install non-DCH versions.

I'm always very careful not to allow Win10 to go online before I manually installed nVidia drivers myself, so I'd suggest to do the same in the future, DCH versions are not bad but I don't recommend them

never heared of DCH?

"DCH" (Declarative, Componentized, Hardware Support Apps) refers to new packages preinstalled by OEMS implementing the Microsoft Universal Driver paradigm.

Is it 32bit or 64bit windows?

update your windows to the latest version.
I just did a fresh install, so it’s up to date.

I can’t tell you specially since I’m not on right now but I think it’s 419.20 or something. Latest game ready driver.
Currently sitting with the 388 driver for now, since 398 and above wouldn’t install and give me this error

64, and I’m using the correct package.

Ok because if it’s 419.67 those are not for GeForce cards

Herp derp 9 series card support was removed. I didn’t remember correctly

You can try this ....

1. Download latest driver and store on HD.

2. Shutdown and disconnect ethernet cable.

3. Boot and uninstall all things nVidia... not just drivers but everything.

4. Reboot and use CCleaner to clean registry or all nVidia references (and nothing else). Suggest doing 1 section (there's about 15) at a time.

5. Reboot and install latest driver for your windows version

6. Shutdown, connect ethernet., boot.

I upgrade the drivers thru Geforce Experience, since i got this DCH error a few months ago.

Fixing the problem has proven difficult for some. However, a few methods are available which are reasonably straightforward. The first, and probably best, option is to avoid it altogether by disconnecting the PC from any network during OS install,
