While testing many drivers I noticed that one setting on all 17x.xx drivers made my games and my computer crash almost instantly when I launch a game:

The Pre-Render setting that allows you to select hom many seconds the CPU can prepare for the GPU.

If you own a 8800GT and you have a 17x.xx driver, can you put that setting to "0" and see if it makes your game crash? If it does, please say so, if it doesn't, then also post something.

Also, are there people that can confirm that the Nvidia CP refreshes itself, resetting all settings that you changed ( unless you already clicked on "Apply" )? This also accurs in all 17x.xx drivers on my pc.

Where do I find the pre-render setting? Is it in Rivatuner Opengl?

Under vsynch under direct 3D I found a pre-render setting which for the moment is 3.

I'm not using the 17x drivers yet though.

In the Nvidia Control Panel. Default setting is "3", should be easy to spot.

You mean Ntune in Nvidia Control Panel? I didn't download Ntune after I installed Riva for fan control of my 8800GT, just in case to avoid conflicts.

Who's talking about Ntune?
