The drivers with a modded .inf file don't originally have support for all Geforce 6 series and up (most only have support for GTX 280 and GTX 260 gpus) the modded .inf file adds support for all cards 6000 series and up.
To add the modded inf open the driver and cancel the installation after the .exe unpacks to c:/nvidia/(windows version)/(driver release)/ and then unpack the zipped .inf file to that same directory (keep in mind to overwrite the old file) and then open the "setup.exe" file and you'll be good to go.
