Also note that GTX 1070 will easy hit over 2GHZ sot even a super crazy overclocked Titan X or GTX 980 Ti will never beat a GTX 1070. end of story...

You get my thanks ;)

Im skeptical about the 1070 being better than the 980 Ti. It seems like a PR move to keep a lid on the P10 480 leak?

Nvidia said the 1070 is faster than the Titan at VR, right? not all across. I expect the 1070 to be very close to the 980 Ti but not faster in anyway.
It's not open for debate currently. It is faster. If not by a little, by a lot. PR has absolutely(pun fully intended) NOTHING to do with it. The numbers are known. It's a mathematical equation. Case closed. Try doing your research first next time. ;)

Oh...and last I checked Fire Strike was not VR. Man...you truly have no clue do you?

Polaris C7 is suppose to be $ 300 card and its matching performance of Fury and no one is interested ?? Again Polaris C4 which is suppose to be sub $ 250 card and matching the performance of GTX 980 and no one is interested to even post news. Interesting.

Polaris is certainly interesting when you look at price/performance and what that will hopefully mean for AMD's bottom line. But the fact is that it isn't pushing the performance envelope while nVIDIA's cards are, which means nVIDIA will grab more of the headlines, and any company that gets its name in the news benefits, even more so if that name's up there for all the right reasons.

Technologically too, Polaris doesn't look to be anything groundbreaking except on a perf/watt level, and while that's laudable in its own way, again it's not as vital or attention-grabbing as pure performance.

Benchmark Scores 3.5 litres of Pale Ale in 18 minutes.
R9 380 X entered the market and took almost 6% market share from Nvidia in 1 quarter - that was a sub $300 card.
That's some screwed up mathematics.
in Q3 2015, AMD's market share was 18.8% and was already rising before the 380X arrived. Q4's market share was 21.1% - but the 380X didn't arrive until almost 2/3rds into the quarter. Q1 2016 market share 22.8%.
Even if AMD didn't sell a single card in Q4 prior to the 380X arriving, and the 380X accounted for 100% of AMD's sales since then, the maximum market share gain would be 4%. Do you think it likely that AMD has sold nothing except 380X's since the 1st October last year?

Seems like a lot of effort to try to derail a GTX 1070 thread into and AMD thread.

If the price/performance/power ratios are good enough it will definitely get attention. The reason the GTX970 got so popular was because it rocked those ratios. The best would obviously be to release Polaris and Vega at the same time, but it might not be a bad idea to go low first. 1080o still being the most common etc etc.

But neither does nVidia. (for the lower part of the market) :)

Plenty of cards on ebay that off that performance for price point so i wouldn't say there isn't anything.

Which only makes it interesting for people who do not already own R9-390X or GTX 980. Like myself. This card is entirely pointless for me even if they are giving it away for free. But alright, if this is planned as replacement for R9-380X... Then again, wasn't R9-380X a competition for GTX 970 ? So, where does this fall in against GTX 1070 then?

Just because something is "pointless" for you, does not mean it isn't relevant. High end cards ($350+) represent less than 15% of the entire market. The best-selling segment is the performance and mainstream segments which range from $100-$300. So, these are the segments which generate the most user attention as a whole, even if they lack the mindshare of enthusiasts.

The R9 380X was not positioned against the GTX 970, the R9 390 was. The R9 380X was actually not positioned directly against any card as NVIDIA had options in the $200 and $330 price points, but nothing between. In fact, its release coinsided with AMD taking back about 8% of the market from NVIDIA for a whole quarter.

We will see how fast the GTX 1070 actually is, if official proofed reviews are released on proper GAMES, not benchmarks like 3dMark. You people are too far on the hype train. I bet the GTX 1070 is slower than a good 980 Ti custom. Even the GTX 1080 had hard times against the 980 Ti custom models, so better don't expect that stripped GPU to be faster. Also it's totally overpriced. GTX 970-ish card for 400-500 bucks lol. I hope the new AMD cards are great enough so that Nvidia has to reduce their high prices.

Then the GTX 1080 and 1070 custom cards arrive along with the new drivers (aka gimping the old gen lel), then were back to square one and yeah still, they are pretty expensive, the 1080 FE costs ~842 USD in our shores, i expect the 1070 FE to be around ~450-500 USD, could also affect the custom variants for them drooling early adopters

At stock speeds aka 1.5ghz in gtx 1070 and 1ghz in 980ti, both are performing equal, In case you oced 1070@2 ghz, YOU RE able to clock your 980ti@ 1.45too and in 1.5 (for some of them
So at best 1070 will performing the same (in higher resolutions 256gb/s bandwith will be a problem), So i dont understand your speculations OR you re not understanding the things of you re typing for.....

WOW I am impressed

By what exactly? Nvidia having masterful PR? Because that's all I really see. When we have independent reviews, then we will actually know. Neither Nvidia or AMD's PR machine can really be believed due to exaggerations and half-truths.

Benchmark Scores 3050 scores good 15-20% lower than average, despite ASUS's claims that it has uber cooling.
Plenty of cards on ebay that off that performance for price point so i wouldn't say there isn't anything.

Is it the first time new architecture/process is rolled out?
Why would anyone manufacture mid-low range cards then, aren't there previous gen cards or does ebay stop working?

Perf numbers simply do not add up in this case.
We already see custom cards being out priced roughly at FE cards.

So one has:
1070 - roughly TX/below good 980Ti at 450$
1080 - clearly faster than TX / somewhat faster than good 980Ti at 699$/789€ (amazing, Huang))
1080Ti will likely go 899-999$ and new TX even more.

970 is too slow, no need for 980Ti to drop much below 400$ point and 980 is on par with 480/480x and, uh, how many of those were sold? (and to whom, I mean, why would they upgrade at this point)

Sure if 970's were there for 150$ and 980Ti for 300$, why not. But they aren't.
I just sold my 380 for 160€, and it's a tier lower than 970.

OR, if it's anything like it has been before, when the Ti releases it will bump the 1080 down in price.

when the Ti releases it will bump the 1080 down in price.
Except it wasn't 980Ti that lowered 980's price, it was Fury X.

Whether 1080Ti will drop 1080 price will depend on whether it is countering AMDs offering or not.

anyone can confirm this 1070 benchmark? breaking the May 30 NDA?
Looks reasonable.
I find power consumption of chips a tad weird though, all across the board, not only new chips.

Except it wasn't 980Ti that lowered 980's price, it was Fury X.

Whether 1080Ti will drop 1080 price will depend on whether it is countering AMDs offering or not.

Looks reasonable.
I find power consumption of chips a tad weird though, all across the board, not only new chips.

Yes, but 780Ti bumped down the 780's price. I bought a 780 on launch day for $650. When the 780Ti released, it was $700 and bumped the 780 down to $550 I think it was.

Benchmark Scores 3050 scores good 15-20% lower than average, despite ASUS's claims that it has uber cooling.

Yeah, but then there was 290/290x at about 500$.
780Ti was faster than 290x back then (is slower now. Heck, after recent driver bump, Fury X started to beat stock 980Ti at 1440p).
