NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti Gets Custom 890 Watt XOC BIOS

Again, isn't that the point?
I thought the point was so nVidia could continue to claim that they have the fastest GPU for gaming. I'm pretty sure that consumers are an afterthought when it comes to a product like this.

*Cries in Fermi*

I mean, it's not an official BIOS though?

I get this point but it's still unoffical, not to mention almost entirely pointless. Nvidia did not release this "product"

I'd put money on there being no 900w 4090. If that tweeted rumor is to be even half believed, my bet is it's 2x450w GPU's being tested together to see what they can get out of them.
I think you're failing to understand an aspect of this situation. There are no "unofficial" VBIOSes for current gen NVidia cards. At all. They're either encrypted or they're encrypted. That's the only option.

The important, guys, is for how long can the TDP wall be sustained before thermal throttling hits and performance falls off a cliff? You know - 20 seconds, 30 seconds?

Great, now SLI with another one with similar BIOS and 2x 2kW PSUs as of course it needs a 500W i9-12900KS with it to get the every last 3DMark point.

I don't usually give a crap about power consumption, environment etc. but this is just simply stupid.
Sure, but the RTX 4090 (and 4080) will beat the 6950 XT 16 GB.

They'll continue to leapfrog each other, generally because they release at different periods.
I miss those days when they released their new lineups basically the same time.

It is but there is a smarter alternative system - pair the Ryzen 7 5800X3D with Radeon RX 6950 XT 16 GB. More performance in much lower power limits.

Indeed. At the end of the day nvidia signs off on everything, this included.

Not long I'm sure. The 480W tdp of my card already has me ghetto modding it it's own external cooling home via risers, lol...

And I don't exactly use weak cooling. My case is basically a box with server style blowers...

Nothing like good airflow to keep from throttling.

Yeah, remembering wrong. I had a Riva TNT back in the day, but I was out of the game for a bit until the GeForce 4 was a thing.
