Man what is even happening in this thread, it's becoming a toxic Nvidia hatred dumping ground.

I am in awe of how many people here have a crystal ball.

To be fair, it happens everywhere not just here. It's trendy to do it i guess. I bet most don't even own a radeon card

I guess people WANT only ONE thing. Fair competition and fair pricing.

We sure are getting a lot of "fair pricing" with AMD. They still haven't reached 30% market share and are already doing some of the most shitty things in the GPU market.

in order to block users from considering nvidia's cards.
It seems like you want nobody to even consider buying evil Nvidia's cards.

I dread to think what AMD would do with free reign of the top end of performance (or with Nvidia just outright gone which would seem like a dream come true to some), but in reality I don't have to, we've seen it before.

Tech websites in a nutshell: Nvidia and Intel = bad, AMD = good. Add confirmation bias to taste.

Just before Proof of Stake, so everything will be sold to miners by the pallets.

Yes, i love my Nvidia cards, but this is a disgusting move.
Very doubtful. ROI just isn't going to be there unless 40series cards jump in performance by 60+%.

Is there an agreement between AMD and nvidia to keep the prices high? If so, a class-action law-suit should be held..

I doubt it. They would have more to lose then what they could gain. They know they sell every single card (with the exception of the stupid 6500 i guess) they make

A lot of decision making heads in the business already told us the shortage will continue at least until 2023.
They said it would continue. They DIDN'T indicate severity. It stands to reason that as it tappers off stock will return to normal. We're already seeing that..

They don't sell all cards - the opposite - many cards gather dust on the retailers shelves. Please stop spreading misleading information!

No, I can give you data from the retailers about the cards' availability. You know when all the retailers have the cards, it is not a good sign about your claim - it is simply that the sales ARE SLOWER than the production :D

you were talking about an "agreement between AMD and nvidia to keep the prices high", and they can only control MSRP, were are all this sub MSRP cards that "gather dust on the retailers shelves"? (6500xt doesn't count)

i'm waiting for the data, and i'm sure a lot of people here want it too.

I hope that the used cards' value will drop, a 2080 Ti would be nice.

Given that instead of dropping prices on current line up, including Ti editions, it would set yet another world record on GPU MSRP, on top of obnoxious power consumption, I don't get why people care at this point.
Funny how everyone is talking about efficiency, saving electricity and other hippie stuff, when in the same time a high-end GPU consumes more than an average computer including its peripherals.

Some better optimization and engeneering and not just making dies bigger and gluing more cores would really be appreciated by me at least. We've seen some power ungry cards in the past but it's getting ridiculous now.

With the crypto’s value in the toilet this may actually be the chance to buy one. But what price is Nvidia going to charge for this new release? Long delivery delays, chip shortages, inflation……

I'll believe it when I see it.

that proof of stake is supposed to happen this time? or be delayed like the other 100 times before?

IMO this will only happen when when ETH crashes below some $700 and mining in small-medium rigs becomes unprofitable. Then and only then can do they make the shift without "screwing" their user base.

I mean a card can have a high power draw and still be efficient. Took a rx6600 because i dont want to spend more than 300€ on a graphics card, dont want to change my psu and because my 1650lp i got for 100€ wasnt that great for 1440p. Performance is around 2060s/5700/1080 but this card consumes under full load around 130w and with spikes 200w as a worst case. The only card i know that has simliar efficency is the 6800. Also great efficency leads to cheaper costs and more compact designs ... some triple slot gpu tend to sag, dont know how bad it would get with the next gen

He is not wrong though, there are many type of cards from RX 6600 to RX 6950 XT, many brands and with different cooling solutions, just the prices are still high, look around here if you wish: Radeon RX series

AMD and NVIDIA only control MSRP, they don't control the prices in the stores. They can't be agreeing on something they can't control. He's obviously wrong. That makes no sense at all.

Saying they are controlling prices and that's why cards are gathering dust is absurd. Cards that aren't selling are way over MSRP. If you where these MSRP cards are gathering dust please let all these good people, that want a card at MSRP, know.
