hi there, I have the AOC 24G2U monitor, all reviews say this monitor works with gsync with no issues. but when I turn mine on, I get black screen flickering when I launch a game. when i turn it off and go to fixed refresh games work just fine.

i really love this monitor, it visually very impressive for 1080p. just don't understand why I am having issues. i have a mini DP cable to DP - and it works fine on other monitors with gsync compatible mode. should i try for a replacement screen? is there anything else I can try? freesync is turned on in monitor settings too. i just don't get it. i'm usually very good with monitors, even doing stuff like toastyx cru without issue. not doing anything like that here, just can't figure this one out. is it possible some panels just get a bad implementation and I got unlucky?

is it possible i have a bad cable?

Anything from the cable to the driver to the monitor itself. Maybe even the card could be at fault.

But first start with a clean driver install. Then cable replace. If all fails, do an RMA on the monitor.

Was trying to avoid ordering a new cable, its a mini DP to DP I need. going to be 10 bucks wasted I feel, cause it worked just fine in the past on a different monitor. but i couldn't stand VA pixel smearing so had to refund that one. this monitor search is quite annoying, but if I can't get freesync/gsync to work right this one goes back to or gets sold. i can't live without gsync/freesync, everything just feels so damn smooth. it really enhances the immersion. all the reviews for this monitor say it works fine, so I hopefully I can figure out the variable.

my hp 25X did that in overwatch, turning the monitor off and back on, un-minimizing the game and continueing on fixed it for me.

Aoc, meh.
You'd be surprised. Their 144hz offerings are best at budget range. Acer Nitro also is competes with them but doesn't have full adjustable stand like AOC and locks certain osd features.
Only akternative countetpart is ASUS TUF offerings but they're usually $50~100 more

Ive had a number of AOCs either not working or fail within a few years.

Tbf if cable doesnt fix id return the monitor and switch to Samsung, NEC

hey, don't know if you still have this problem, but i recently bought the 24g2u and i was having the same problem. tried pretty much everything. Was waiting to get a 1.4 dp cable to see if it would solve it, but i didn't need to. i had some updates on windows 10 (dont really know if these were important), and after that a new nvidia driver update came out. so i updated to 445.75, and everything started working. im canceling the cable order. basically, bottom line is, this is a driver problem. there are some versions that work, and a lot of them that dont. some of the versions reported to work are 417.71, 436.48, and now 445.75, but there's maybe more. i guess from now on whenever i update the driver, if gsync doesnt work, i'll just rollback to the previous version

I'm really quite lost if you ditch AOC for bad quality and then come up with Samsungs. Its not like those are renowned for lasting. Its very clear they are skirting the edge when it comes to displays. Their QLED is hit and miss in terms of QC, Syncmaster was pretty weak, the list goes on and on. Their VA monitors have also been problematic. Their AMOLED... let's not even go there. And many of these issues are longevity related. They start fine... degrade fast.

In monitor land, with the exception of a very tiny minority of companies, its like PSUs. You have to check per model whether its not shit. Even in the premium segment. It was only very recently that all sorts of problems with ELMB monitors popped up, and the same panel types from different manufacturers can either have serious ghosting or none at all. Its all over the place.

Does this only happen when you start the game and exit the game?
