Hi to all,
I am facing a problem with my Lenovo Y-700-15ISK Ideapad' s Nvidia GTX 960M 4 GB GPU!
A few days ago,the GPU started to stuck at 405 MHz core and 405 MHz memory clocks,or sometimes at 1176 MHz core and 2505 MHz memory clocks while idle!
While gaming the clocks change randomly which cause FPS drops!
I uninstalled the graphics drivers with DDU,and installed fresh and newest drivers ,but that didn't help!
I did a full antivirus scan with Bitdefender Total Security 2018,and it didn't find any malware!
I reinstalled the Win 10 x64 bit OS for two times, but the problem still persists!
I did a full hardware diagnostics scan via Lenovo's Solution Center, and the scan didn't show any hardware problem, every hardware part which was tested was OK!
The last thing I tried was resseting the BIOS settings, but and that didn't help me too!
What can I do to fix this issue?
Please help me! Thanks to all in advance! Best regards!

make sure Nividia control panel is set to Maximum performance . and that you are actually using the Nvidia GPU and not the IGPU. s I was going to add some pics of the set up but tpu isnt allowing it right now.
EDIT to be positive it is using your GTX just right click the game and select "run with this graphic processor" then select your gtx
EDIT click the link below for a pic of control panel set up.

I had already done that things, before the GPU started to stuck!

I really don't know how to fix this!

Could it be a hardware issue?

Did you do this>>>>

These two are very important

????????????

EDIT if you are really stuck and you have Steam installed you could share your desktop with me and I will try to help you further? Let me know.

Yes I had done that before my GPU started to stuck!

As far as I remember,a few days ago while gaming I noticed FPS drops, and suddenly saw at the OSD info from MSI Afterburner, that the GPU's clocks change randomly every second, those were clocks values which I have never saw before while gaming!
Everytime I play I game,the GPU's clocks are stable and don't change!

you mean they stay right at 405mhz?

Also you mentioned you re-installed windows 10, that means you now should install your motherboard drivers from Lenovo do the chipset first and reboot then do the rest and reboot and then reinstall the nvidia drivers and control panel and then set up the control panel like i showed you and retest

Now at the moment they stay at 405 MHz for the both,or sometimes at 1176 for the core and 2505 for the memory, while idling!
Before this issue the core clocks stood at 135 MHz,and the memory at 405 MHz almost everytime while idling!

And before this issue the clocks were always stable while gaming, but now they change randomly!

okay your just a lil confused...the 405mhz reading is indeed the GTX card at idle but the 135mhz reading I'm pretty certain is the IGP, so that's should be okay and correct.

my GTX 960M is currently staying steady at 405mhz while idle

But know at the moment the both are 405 MHz, or sometimes they reach 1176 MHz with 2505 MHz for all the time at idle!

I see these values at HWMonitor!

well GPU 1176 MHz with Vram 2505 MHz are both the Stock 3D clocks....so thats wierd!
EDIT while it being wierd I also feel confident that this is just a configuration issue and probably NOT bad hardware.

Yes,exactly!

And the clocks change randomly while gaming! They vary from 135 with 405 to 1176 with 2505, then to some another random values!

No I didn't disable the IGP,and I don't have any other apps!
This happened all of the sudden!

I don't know why!

Also did you reinstall these after reinstalling windows 10? https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/...ideapad-y-series-laptops/y700-15isk/downloads

And what I think happened is you were gaming and then disconnected the power causing the laptop to go under performance mode for battery savings, which is a 30FPS capp....then assumed you were having problems and now really do.

thank you! DO the CHIPSET FIRST!

I will be awaiting your results
