The upcoming NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti graphics cards is allegedly 5% faster than the previous-generation flagship, RTX 3090 Ti, according to leaked OctaneBench numbers. The online submission database of the benchmark has an entry for the RTX 4070 Ti, which is shown scoring 725 points, compared to 688 of the RTX 3090 Ti, and 928 of the RTX 4080. These would put the RTX 4070 Ti at roughly 5% faster than the RTX 3090 Ti, and about 21% slower than the RTX 4080. You begin to see why it would have been a terrible idea to market the RTX 4070 Ti as the "RTX 4080 12 GB," and why the outrage was justified—which will only bear fruit if NVIDIA prices the RTX 4070 Ti lower than the $900 MSRP it had planned for the RTX 4080 12 GB.

In games the other way around most likely 4070 and Ti sitting at 62 and 78% of 4080.

So you need Nvidia GPU's to even run this? (No, I didn't just download Octane and then get an NvCuda error, then hastily delete it whilst feeling foolish...o_O)

So who want's a little wager the 4070 Ti will STILL be overpriced and all these "leaks" are false?

3090ti for 1000$, you can`t argue with that...

A happy(?) AMD customer has negative things to say about random Nvidia news, shocking!

I just don't believe the hype, that's all. I got sucked in by the 7900XTX and on it's release, was disappointed by it's performance compared to the 4080.

Also @Argyr, a happy Intel/Nvidia customer has to defend them? Or are you believing the "hype"?

The next gen ~70 series beating the last gen Titan or Ti cards, for a quarter of price was since ever.
I don't understand where is the fuss except 4070 Ti being overpriced as hell too.

There's nothing hype about brutal generational performance upgrades, AMD does the same. Why should I question it? Everyone hated the 30 series claiming it's weak and a scam, what's so surprising about 40 series destroying it?

Are you going to get a 4070Ti?

and it shall be priced accordingly

If this also the case in gaming, it will be the death of the $900 7900 XT.

it's the death of our wallets or acquiesce with the fact that 4060 is now becoming 4070 and everything costs 100% more
Nvidia's own slides place it 5% slower, could be exaggerated. By specifications 4080 has 40% more ROPs and bandwidth, 20% more CUDA. So it's probably 30% faster overall..

I don't care how fast it is. No x70 card should cost $900, especially not if it's based on the small AD104 die. Instead of this ridiculous price jump, Nvidia should wait for 3000 series stock to clear, and then release the 4070 Ti for a price that makes sense. I know they won't because of profits, but still.

Whatever how benchfake "fast" is this 4060 with fake name "4070 ti" VRAM size is non adequate for long term.

how so? that entirely depends on the price, if this card is 1000 bucks then nothing really shifts.
Also AMD can lower their pricing, as been suggested current pricing is based on the fact that both parties have older hardware they want to move first....which wont happen without further price cuts but what do I know right?

I dont really agree, tis just a number, they could make a RTX4090 for 10.000 dollars for all I care.
That just means that we have to go down to some RTX4020 or so in the future to be the gaming card of the people.

And if we could just have companies also forgo putting in effort to make games that actually require/benefit from those super high end cards, then they are nigh pointless.

That was what was so good about the Valve of old, or Blizzard of old, solid visuals but easy to run for all.

Jup, that is it. The RTX4000 Cards have a little more performance gen after gen as usual...and NVidia lets you pay for it.
If you want don't to pay more then you have to buy a tier lower then usual and still get the gen after gen upgrade.
For example, if you have a 3080 and want to upgrade, buy the 4070/4070Ti.

Even at current prices (in Germany) you will get 3090Ti performance for 400€ less with the 4070Ti...minus the VRAM...and much better efficiency.

Thats yet to be tested. This cant be the right comparison.

So only octanebench, they can't even show a win in geekbench or something I thought that the new low point of bench comparison.
I guess I was wrong.

In car terms this would be ford checking out how American and fordy their ford is.

More fordy then the last one, great insight.

Why do you guys act like you were kissed before getting screwed when it comes to these leaks?

Everyone knows we are gonna get screwed with pricing and lack of actual benefit to these cards.

Its probably going to be $900-$1000 bucks. I mean what matters is in overall performance how close it is to the 3090ti/7900 XT. If it matches the 7900 XT on performance and has better RT at the same price then it will be a better value (Though thats not saying much with this generation of terrible value).

x70 being at the level of last gen x80 or x90 for the same price as last gen x70 is normal. x70 being above the level of last gen x90 in both performance and price is not.

4070 Ti 12GB $900 ~~ 3080 Ti 12GB $1200

price is lower, performance is similar to previous gen 80 Ti much like 2080 Ti and 3070 Ti, 1080 Ti and 2070 Super, 980 Ti and 1070 Ti.

Not enough of a jump to make me want to upgrade from my 3080_12gb (I paid £610). I would have spend another £500 (w/£400 trade-in) so 47% more after trading in the 3080 for 20% more performance, er thats a hard pass..!! That card is a non-starter for me, its a 4080-16gb or 7900XTX, but both those cards need to come down to the £750 mark before even becoming a remote consideration.

3090ti for 1000$, you can`t argue with that...
Since when do we compare previous generation pricing and not pricing based upon the tier of the card in relation to the rest of the current generation's lineup? I'd say a thousand bucks for a mid-upper tier card is overpriced.
