Fired for what exactly? Having a slightly louder card for a much cooler card? Seems like a good tradeoff off to me. Most people play games when the card is heading up so gpu noise is drowned out.

I use open back headphones to play games. GPU fan noise isn't really a big deal.
I disagree. I only use headphones for music, so fan noise is my greatest enemy while playing games. That's why I couldn't bear my 2070 and bought a 6500 XT instead.

Big enough to plug into two PCI-E slots. Wouldn’t that be a site lol, may even help with flexing.

59 fps at 1440p all maxed out for a 4090? I'm being reminded of those Physx days... ray tracing isn't worth it imo, I'd rather have higher and smoother frames. and a $1600 card with DLSS3 is only way to have it all? Fuck that. lol, optimise your games better ffs.

Its 55c because the heatsink is nearly 4 slots lol. Soon the case will be just a giant heatsink, kinda like a laptop.

Being 4 slots doesn't take anything away since some of the best 4 slot air coolers for 3090Ti such as the Supreme were sitting around 70c under gaming .

Mid to low 50c under full load for such a power hungry GPU falls under watercooling territory so very very impressive for an aircooler assuming they are not running their fans at max speed .

This chart says, "Relative Performance" which is by definition NOT "RAW HP"
Well, that chart says it offers +50%-100% faster in today's games and up to +300% in future games. The latter is obviously a projection, but 67% you talks about falls squarely in what they said about current titles.
If that's reason not to trust Nvidia, more power to you, I guess.

It's 4 slots because the industry has to deal with ridiculous expectations from consumers and deliver biannually, which Nvidia miraculously does. Not to mention while innovating on multiple fronts (DLSS, NVENC). If you're unhappy, there's always a 2-slot 3XXX series card until you buy a proper case :).
lmao people today actually think nvidia is trying to meet gamers expectations? Really? Why would they? They are the ONLY player in the high end without any competitor. They control this whole market. There is no miracle here. They dictate pricing and they impose on you the consumer what they think its best whether u like it or not, not the other way around. If next year they think 5 slots and a 2kw psu is the appropriate cooling and power requirement then guess what, you will buy a 5 slot card and a 2kw psu if you want the latest tech. So no , its consumers that need to deal with ridiculous pricing, requirements, etc.

Why would we trust them when their projections back with the 3080 were also false regarding it's 2x performance over 2080 TI?

To assume it will be 300% better at unamed future titles sounds like coping to me.

It's just a long winded, elaborate sales pitch to convince the masses that they need a new shiney toy. Nothing more. We won't know anything substantial until the NDA is lifted but the real fun begins with AMD. Then we will finally see what's what.
Personally I'm only interested in seeing if the $900 4080/70/60 12gb is going to be the next great flop of our lifetime.
It's fun to discuss and analyze leather jacket boys sales pitch but after a couple of days it gets boring with no new material to dissect.

75% + with DLSS quality for the rtx 4090. Like what it is the DLSS (lower quality) that brings the + in performance.

That's not how physics work. There's a lot of diminishing returns for temperature vs noise (in both directions)

Are you running your fans at 100%?
No but I run them higher than stock because I think they let the cards run too hot in the first place on default curve.
I realize 450w of heat is 450w of heat but if it's escaping my electronics for a little noise bump alright. I doubt they're running fans 100% out of the box.

If that is the actual temp on the final cards, then the fan speed/noise balance is terrible and someone at NVIDIA will get fired after my review

What if fan noise is still inaudible while the GPU is running at 55C on the FE?

AIBs will be sweating left and right because they can't really charge more than MSRP for their high-end SKUs.

Waiting for the proper reviews... 4 Series looks DOA to me due to the pricing. Nvidia not adjusting to a post crypto mining and lock-down world I think? Market and economy totally changed whilst they developed these cards.

People going to pay so much and not game at 4K also ?

This, the 4090 at 2000€ cannot play a 2 years old game at 4k.

Not DOA, many will buy them, myself included. DLSS 3.0 and the performance uplift are practically required for MSFS in VR(HP Reverb G2 - 19.2 megapixels per frame at full resolution), and the predicted raster performance increase over my 3090 is very welcome for triple screen racing(soon to be triple 4k OLED).

Most people who could afford a 3090 will have no problem buying a 4090, either. We all know that. That doesn't change the fact that many people will find 40-series prices out of reach. For example, I had no problem buying a Radeon HD 7970 when I was at university with no job. Now I have a full-time job with a bunch of allowances, and even the MSRP of the 4080 12 GB is too big of a bite for me.

Nvidia is becoming the Apple of GPUs. They'll milk the few fans who can afford it, and f*** the rest.

I fear if the Apple analogy stands, then AMD may well become Samsung (on top-tier cards).

Some will buy 4 series of course, 3 series was the big jump at 60 fps at 4k finally possible.

I see 4 series being a massive commercial flop. The global economic situation is difficult, could be more so, no mining. Crazy strong $, mountains of 3 series inventory left and second hand market flooded with ex mining cards.

Prices for 4 series are 50% too high. Probably the 4nm process is so expensive rock and a hard place for Nvidia.

I am highly skeptical of this 55 degree Celsius claim. At 461W, you can guarantee that there's a lot of heat output, and based on current RTX 3090 Ti reviews, you can get a sense of how hot it can potentially get. To get to 55, you need nothing short of a high end custom water cooling setup for the RTX 3090 Ti. The only thing I can think of is that the peak power draw is 461W, but consistently, it was drawing a lot less power due to various reasons. If it was running this cool, Nvidia and their AIB will never need to couple the card with such a massive air cooler to begin with.

Well, it is said to be able to handle 600W or so. If that's true, 450-460W could be close to its sweet spot, so it could be still efficient drawing all that power.
