NVIDIA Unveils RTX Voice, AI-based Audio Noise-Cancellation Software

New audio solutions always give me that typical middle-aged man in the attic doing hobbies feeling. The point of it is always questionable, but hey, why not.

As does human malware, though I'm running out of stuff to tinker with now, I'm at the point where filing the lumps off waterblocks is actually a maybe.

Why do so many people have a problem with someone caring about their personal privacy?

I don't think they do, they are just pointing out that they are mostly wasting their time caring about privacy :) .

What is wrong with you people. The software just picks up the sound as being away from the mic. Probably like an echo or impure sound due to distance from the Mic. It has nothing to do with privacy. Gezzz

You are so wrong, there is a privacy element to consider, Amazon has already violated peoples rights by using Alexa listen in on conversations when told to turn itself off. With any software that has access to and control over a mic, you risk the software being used to turn it on and listen, without you being aware.

I hope you guys don't use any communication device. Of any kind, ever. I understand the concern. But come on.

The market for this app is a bit odd, it's for people who don't care enough to buy dedicated hardware, but wouldn't mind using a free app as a commodity. People who are actually serious about audio recording (seasoned streamers) are not concerned by this. That app is also claiming to "clean" noisy output, it doesn't just stop at recording.
Maybe they are exploring things to do with the tensor cores to market RTX cards or laptops or introducing themselves in other markets. There are these algorithms used to restore or upscaling resolution on images and videos that use AI and do a pretty good job. Now, if they can evolve this into restoring audio files more than the Creative approach does, for example, restoring mp3 files to pcm or wav instead of just making up them poorly, then we could have the start of a winner here. I would bite.

I found a bug with the software:
When you open it, even without ANY app that captures audio, the GPU goes to full 3D clocks and stays there, meaning 34W wasted on a 2060Super

As soon as you close the RTX voice app in the task tray, clocks to back to 2D Idle.

not very usable at this state, just reported the "bug" as well
