I've been joyously replaying oblivion with extra eyecandy thanks to crazy eyes reaper and the mailmans recent posts. I have just found an armour item that i cannot find anywhere when i google it. It's in an under water location called the cavities at the west side of the map. It's near Tartha? During a quest for a woman to avenge her dead husband killed by smugglers i find deep caves. I also find 'forgotten pirates' with a scroll in a chest about an unimaginable treasure.. Even deeper are the 'cavities' filled with water (had a ring of water breathing to do it). Find a key on a skeletons body, find a chest in same map area and inside chest is the treasure - Power of Gods. A light armour helmet worth 96 000 gold. Resist damage at 95%, resist spell at 95%, strength +100.

Catch is it's got 25 self damage of fire, frost and shock as soon as you put it on, as well as 25 magicka loss.

Anyone ever seen this? I'll screen shot it if folk don't believe it.

So you'll take about 1 damage when you put it on?

Health bar disintegrates in about 5 seconds. I'm 100+ fire retardant due to race and armor but frost is at 60% (taking 12.5 damage) and shock is 40% (15 damage) per game second believe. Unless it's just not meant to be worn as it would be as good as god mode.

Crap thing is, you can't sell it for it's value. No shop keeper is rich enough.

Bah, back to Frostcrag Spire to think about enchantments.

FYI, this helmet I believe is from OOO mod, not sure, I have a ton installed.

But as far as I know this has no legitimate use. You can't wear it, you can't reverse pick-pocket it, and I don't think you can trap a corpse with it (have NPC loot and wear it).

It seems that damage caused by 'cursed' items is cannot be resisted. I was able to piece together a set for a total of 170 fire and 100 frost/shock. No change in how fast my health dropped. I could only nearly break even by chugging really powerful health potions.

Interesting, I had never heard of this when I as playing Oblivion a couple years ago.

I had managed, through mods and such, to become 100% fire resistant, 100% shock resistant, and 100% frost resistant, the only thing would be the magicka damage, but I was not that much into spellcasting playing as an adventurer.

Maybe I should install Oblivion and load up a savegame to see if I could actually use it.

What was the name of the quest in which you obtained it?

And I believe there might be mods where certain shopkeepers have enough gold, I vaugely remember buying an armor that cost ~300,000 septims.

if i remember its an easter egg helmet if its in the ocean then yea its been around since release i could be wrong but i know the helmet is there in my game without mods, could be a different helmet im thinking off, or it could have been modded and replaced in one of the mods your using, i cant be sure i just know theres a ridiculous helmet in the ocean

Are you thinking of Fin Gleam?

AH yes Fin Gleam is what i was thinking of lol

I did get the helmet in some bloody deep caves. In the ocean. I was like w00t when i found it and then realised it has no merit or purpose whatsoever.... Boooo!!!

Well, what was the name of the quest and/or mod?

This is the list of mods I have installed.

If you have Tathra in your game (on the Anvil cliffs) there is a homeless woman who sleeps behind the inn. She'll give you a quest that requires you to confront two smugglers. It was running about in their caves, getting deeper and deeper that i found it. But even if you find the caves, it'll take an age to find - it's a huge map.

It must be one of the DLC, I have Battlehorn, Mehrune's Razor, and Shivering Isles, so I would guess it was from one of the others, Vile Lair or Thieves Den, possibly?

Thanks, I will do some research.

Good luck!

If i recall correctly there are a few levels of underwater caverns. You come across various npc's, including ghost pirates, which i'm sure have a key. That key unlocks a chest in another cavern, i think. You will have to explore for hours. Having the skeleton key will help. As will the abyssal beacon (light and breathe underwater ring).

Have fun and post back if/when you find it.

Thanks.

From reading the descriptions, it may the Thieves Lair, since it it about pirates and Anvil.

But, unfortunately, the Bethesda DLC link appears to be offline.

Another screenie. That be a big mini map and you can make out a sunken ship...

Also, In Tathra there is Rocks Tavern. There is a basement which leads to:
Dry Caverns, Lower Passages, Cavities, The Depths.

I found the helmet in either the Cavities or the Depths. As far as i know there was no quest associated with it? As reaper said, it's an easter egg i guess.

Any possibility you could zoom out on the map? Thanks.

I do not recall a place called Tathra, and I had well over seven hundred hours of gameplay in Oblivion. Therefore, I believe it must be a DLC specific place and quest.

Anyway, I need to find where I can download the DLC.

Ok, last post b4 bed.

I went back in and zoomed out to world view when i was i the Cavities. The arrow shows i'm out under the sea. And you can see Tathra.

Thanks.

Yes, I do not recall having seen that location.

Pleasant dreams.

@the54thvoid.

It was in the Cliffs of Anvil mod.

It was difficult to find.

The only effect I noticed was, even though none of my stats actually decreased while wearing it, I could not fast travel because I was 'taking health damage'.

Thanks for sharing.
