Hallo,

I have made a some changes in my PC's hardware and now I have:

- i5-5675C (no OC),
- 8GB DDR3 1333Mhz (I know, this is what I would like to change),
- R9 Fury Nitro TriX,
- Crucial SSD 480GB,
- PSU - SilentiumPC Deus M1 550W (that has 512W on V12 line)

I was afraid of my hardware so I decided to try OCCT test. I just turned on PSU TEST with auto settings (60 minutes). I was waiting around 50 minutes and then I saw error. Damn!

I though it was old RAM but I also tried memtest without any problems :/ . Some people said, that the problem is because of my poor PSU. My old hardware was similar - I used FX-8350 and R9 270X with the same PSU without any problems. Now I am trying to understand what should I change. PSU? It's weird to me because PSU was quiet and the air was cool.

On this link you can take a look at screens from OCCT test (I'm not expert so I don't undestand them).

If it's PSU issue I am going to change it. Is it possible to have a good one to 100EUR?

Have a nice day.

What I would do is get into more specific tests that OCCT provides. I'd do the OCCT Linpack CPU tests, without AVX, use 90% RAM...should be set like that by default.

Next I would run the GPU stress test and then the GPU corruption test. Both are important.

The PSU test can pull a lotta power running all the tests OCCT has to offer at once and will heavily stress a system more than most games and activities out there. That said, it's not a bullet proof test, even though OCCT is my primary stress test and stability software, I use that and a mix of Prime, AIDA, Intel XTU, etc. all to test a system if I start to find issues.

I would break down into the other individual tests though... see if you can better pinpoint if something is failing or if they all pass independently but all together under the heavier load the PSU is causing an issue...I should add that normally an unstable PSU issue will cause a system shutdown or reboot on a test fail...not a detected "stable" failure where you get the report from OCCT. No BSOD's, random shutdown/reboots...I'm thinking possible issues with memory, CPU, GPU. 550W should be plenty to handle that system.

I'd say do more testing before replacing anything. :toast:

Hallo,

Thank you for your tips. Today I did one more test in Linpack CPU with with 90% value of RAM (yes, it's default option). There was no errors.

Because it's late and I am a little bit tired, I am going to test my graphic card tomorrow. After that, I will post my results inside this topic.

Regards!

Good morning, I'm back :)

Today I did 2 test with GPU that were passed without any issues/errors. Both of them kept 1 hours (automatic mode).

As I said before, I was testing also RAM with memtest software without any errors.

So, should I looking for new PSU? If I good calculate my system should works fine but I don't wanna have any troubles in the future. It's very strange, because:

- i5-5675C needs around 60W,
- Fury Nitro needs around 270W,

but those values refer to gaming mode, not benchmarks, etc.

I wouldn't bother replacing the PSU unless you know it is faulty.
Check the voltages in the BIOS and/ or through HWInfo.
If your system is running fine, just upgrade your Ram.

Thanks for reply.

Can you help me with voltages? I don't know about this.

What does it "fail(errors)" at in that cpu test,12v rail looks looks good. Well one could push a psu to its limits, I know I dis it once, 6core cpu running five threads prime and on the other hdtune and furmark, poor thing shut down in about a minute, all the while I was monitoring 12v rail with multimeter, at the end it read 10,92...10,80V and poof it shut down
, cpu was oc,ed ov'ed, yours is fine by the looks of it.

Thanks. My question is: there is something that should I do?

Stop worrying maybe? If you want to do a bit more testing then let HWinfo run in the background when you do a OCCT test. The minimum 12 V should read at least 11.5 V. Anything less I would dump the PSU if it were mine.

Edit: yes before anyone mention it these readout are not 100 % correct maybe even far off but OP doesn't strike me as the type that owns a Fluke.

Play a demanding game (crysis3, gta5...) for hours if it runs fine it's fine if not you will know what's the problem or post here for us to analyse.
