Is it possible that some old Games ( Year 2000/2002/2001) doesn't work run/work on Modern Computers?

If you're referring to compatibility then yeah there's definitely a possibility that older software would have trouble running on an operating system that didn't even exist when the game or software was written.

For the most part, at the worst, you might have optimization problems, but generally they won't flat out not work.I would say one of the bigger compatibility issues would be that if software engineers werent taking into account older direct X9 or similar based titles ,when they were writing newer software

Most do, some don't. GOG specializes in making old games work on new operating systems.

The games I have the most issue with are made for Windows 95/98/ME. Games before that run well via DOS Box. Games after that are NT so backwards compatibility comes into play.

I have many old Games some of the run without any issues on my main Machine some others doesn't run, my favorite is Hitman 2.

So, you are saying that it is an OS issue and not software?

Check with some thrift stores, flea markets, garage sales, etc... A lot of times you can pick up an ole system from 8 to 10 years ago that will still be running Windows 98 to XP.

Plus, they are kind of fun to mess around with. :p

Many old games work great on modern OS like W10. However, even a lot of GOG games will need tweaking or widescreen fixes.

PC Gaming Wiki is a perfect resource for 90% of the games, with tips and limitations, even some registry fixes listed.

Widescreen Gaming Forum lists what is needed to make old resolutions widescreen, if possible.

Sadly, your biggest trouble will be for games only available on disc. If they had any kind of copy protection, W10 will not allow them to run. W8.1 is as modern as you will get.

I was thinking maybe with one of my SR-2 and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260, so far as i know the SR-2 would run XP without issues but we know that Microsoft do not offer support for XP anymore

If you are running old games only, just install XP with SP3, keep it disconnected from internet and play games. It has no reason to go online.

Hmm, can't remember now, but doesn't XP only support 1 processor? Maybe XP Pro supported 2...........Dang, can't remember now. LOL

Windows XP Professional supports up to two physical processors

XP Pro supports multi Processors so it would support 12 cores /24 threads of the SR2 :)) (Grurrr hate to tell you that but have SR2 Envy :) )

Edit somewhere i have a NT4 Install Disk that states up to 4 processor and it will install to a sparc workstation

I have lowered my Screen resolution to 800 x 600 launched the Game and i get audio and Graphic but the Hitman moves too slow and when i say slow it means that before he moves or walk it takes an eternity.

So, you are saying that it is an OS issue and not software?
Mostly, yes. Saints Row 2 has clocking issues when ran on anything newer than XP for example. Another example is Fallout 3 having a lot of issues on Windows 8/10.

Certain games need certain dlls to run, virtualization helps mitigate them but sometimes having a dual boot helps if that os supports the newer hardware or drivers are still being deved, a great example is 16bit games from expert software would run in W98SE/ME but failed to run in 2000/XP. The only other option is to build a Legacy Rig, say Athlon XP or P4 lol

I would love to get the first couple Rainbow 6 games working

That is a good idea, i know a few shops where i can get an old Computer for 30€/40€

Google tells me you might be able to use nvidia profile inspector to limit the game to 55fps, then it should run properly.

Google would probably be able to tell you a lot about specific game X that doesn't work properly... each case is different and there's no magic fix for everything. I remember having crazy artifacting in Red Faction with a newer (compared to the game) video card, the fix for that one turned out to be downloading some other launcher or something for the game (pure faction).

There is a reason to go online.

Some Games runs on Steam + if i don't go online i guess i don't get the achievements or am i wrong?

I thought this was for old games that you can't currently playing?

Thats right but i also have a few old Games i bought on Steam, the old ones on CD are not a problem to run it without internet.

You might not get the achievements but Steam can be run in "offline" mode.

I think if you just fire up Steam and not have the system plugged into the internet, it will prompt you with some warning that it can't communicate with the online server, and would you like to start Steam in offline mode.

At least it used to. LOL. I had an XP system that I ran Doom, Heretic, Hexen, Doom 2 and Quake on that wasn't hooked to the internet. I haven't ran that system for a couple of years though.

You might want to try out dgVoodoo2 (which makes DirectX 1-8.1 games work great on Windows that supports DirectX 11). Download here: http://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/dgVoodoo2.html Note: It will report as a false positive from AV software, but it is safe! I've used this to play Midtown Madness 1 & 2, Frogger, 3D Cube Hopper, The Game Of Life, plus others.

No sense to play the Game.

Btw, why cant/shouldnt i connect the Machine that runs Windows XP to the internet?

Its the ""YOUR GET PWND" fear
XP is long in the tooth not getting updates
limmited A/V support
but if your reasonably prudent there is a managble risk factor in going on line with XP
