Hello guy's Im opening this thread asking your opinion on the Acer Timeline series, I recently sold my DV2 since, I couldn't stand the noise and low batery life, Im thinking of getting the Timeline 13.3 model from a friend for 500$ any info or opinion on this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834115672 model would be very helpfull, o looking for a cheap ultrportable with a least 3 hours of heavy use on battery.

Thanks:toast:

I wouldn't recommend buying or even laying a finger on Acer laptops, the build quality is really poor even though they have good components installed, there build quality is really poor and there customer service is poor aswell.

I'd stay away from Acer in my opinion,i would consider getting another HP or samsung or ASUS or sony vaio or Lenovo

On the plus side it's cheap and light, on the negative side, the CPU is on the borderline of mainstream and netbook - dual core, low clock speed, low fsb / low cache. It's still faster than an Atom. Regardless of the clock speed, the Atom will be slower than a Core2 based CPU, even a low clock speed CPU like this one.

For web browsing and a non-heavy multitasking workload it should be fine, but if you plan to do a lot of video streaming, or web browsing + other tasks, it will feel a little sluggish - the default HD is slow, although in this price range that is bound to be the case. Hope that helps.

I think the one main selling point of the Acer Timeline is the slimness and more importantly the battery life. The small CPU, LED backlit screen and DDR3 all add up to low power. They claim 8+ hour battery life. Much better than almost all other notebooks right?

But yeah they even have a Core 2 Solo version. 1.3GHZ single core... just makes me wonder!
