Overclocking Athlon X2 3800 - need advice

Hey all,

After getting my mobo fixed cuz it burnt out, I want to know what a SAFE limit to overclock my Athlon X2 3800+ to. It's running at 1.400V, if someone tells me to lower it for something, I will, I just want some performance out of it. It was originally 2.00GHz, and at the minute it's running at 2.20Ghz at 1.400V. Help appreciated.

EDIT: By the way, I'm using stock cooling.

Have you done much reading on oc-ing the x2 3800? How it oc's on a MB like yours? Are you stress testing? Do you have correct components for the OC goal you hopefully have set? You should replace the stock cooling...but I'd hope you know that as you're trying to sell us custom PC's that are OC'd...and trying to get money and parts out of us for OC-ing your rig... :laugh:

what were the voltages and speed you burned out your mobo at. and it doesn't sound like 200 mhz is really a big deal if you can deal with the slightly higher temps from stock cooling.

try these settings:

250FSB
4x HT
166mhz(333mhz) RAM settings. (or equivalent DDR2 settings. I only have DDRpc3200)
and 1.4v should work fine.

Is it 939 or AM2 bro... You can get the 3800 AM2 on a 65nm process which would mean a lower kill voltage....
