I'm on this nuub HDforum, and a guy was having problems with a lower fps.
He tought it was 6800GT that gave problems. Seemed that it was is new USB 5.1 headset :)

Anyway,
guys commented that the problem was a huge bottleneck between his P4 2,4 norhtwood (533FBS) and his GT. Al his other spec are fine. 512DDR, 400W USP, etc

however, I myself got an P4 norhtwood 2,66 and an 6800GT@ULTRA
and my scores are always what they are supposed to be.

My question is: is there a bottleneck, and how big is it?

What I could gather is that there is a little bottleneck, but it ain't worth to upgrade his CPU (what others suggested)

One solution I came up with is to downgrade his bios to an 6800LE
I believe there are 6800LE's with DDR3?
Or just locking some pipes/shaders with rivatuner?

some nice insights in this would be great.

Not quite the same situation but................

I had my X800 in my Abit BH7 (i845 based chipset) and it would only give me about 60% of what I thought it should in Aquamark, 3Dmark 03,05 e.t.c. Tested it in a Nforce 2 board as well. I swapped to an Abit i875 based motherboard and it's all back upto what I would expect. I suspect it was related to the AGP slot on the two older boards only being v2.0.

Only results I have left.

well another thing is that 3dmark 2001 is more memory and cpu benchmark

In games a P4B will be destroyed, and it will hold back the system. 512MB isn't a lot nowadays, its bare minimum. So I say CPU/Ram are holding it back. I don't know how bad the score loss is but if its really huge, there's a chance the GFX is throtteling. It does that when it hits a certain temperature, so how hot is it running? Otherwise, maybe there's a driver conflict (or missing drivers, lol). If all else fails, reinstall Windows.

That can be completely different under other ambient temps, you never ever measure in idle. Load temps are what matters...
