I just received some new parts from newegg. I got a ASUS P5Q SE mobo, 4 GB of corsair DDR2 800 RAM, and a Core 2 Duo E7300.
I installed everything without a hitch. But now that I finally tried starting it up, I get absolutely nothing. No fans, no HD, no lights, nothing. The mobo has this neat little green LED near the bottom, that supposedly when the mobo is receiving power, it will blink. I was getting no blinking with my 500w power supply that was in my previous computer. So I assumed it to be a PSU issue. So I went and grabbed another PSU. Now I'm getting the green blinking light, but my computer still refuses to start up when I press the button. I have checked the wire for the power button several times, and I'm sure it's plugged in to the right pins. I tried reseting the CMOS, I removed all hardware besides what is absolutely required, I have tried different RAM configurations, I have tried different PSU's. I'm all out of ideas. You have any?
