hi all i lost lost my original cpu mounting bracket, i need it because i need to rma my msi p67a-gd65 b3 board.
i bought a new msi board, the p8h77-v le and i noticed that it is almost the same as the bracket from the p67a-gd65 only diffrence is the bracket from the p8h is made by foxconn and the p67a-gd65 uses a lotes mounting bracket.. now my question is, do u ppl think i can send the bracket from the p8h77-v le along with my p67a-gd65 for RMA ? do they check those things ?

anybody???, sorry for bump, but i really want my p67a back. this h77 can't even achieve a decent overclock, and there are no options for voltage adjustments... :(

You could always try it out, I would almost doubt that they would notice a different retention bracket since lotes and foxconn look similar. Also one question, why did you remove it in the first place? I haven't yet seen a cooler that required its removal?

tnx for your reply, i removed the bracket cuz my thermaltake frio has its own mounting bracket and it would not fit over the original bracket so i had to remove it...

okay im gonna try to RMA my msi p67a-gd65 with the retention bracket of the msi p8h77-v LE, lets see if the european msi branch is paying attention to their rma process.

EDIT:
i also noticed the plastic socket protector is grey on the p67a-gd65 with no text on it, and the p8h77-v LE has a black protector with chinese english and french text on it, saying i should keep this after installing the cpu for RMA cases........... -_- seriously ?? :p

Always keep the socket protector for RMA or if sold in the future. This will save headaches when RMA team or new buyer gets it claiming to have bent pins.

WOW, i didn't thought it would work but it did,
I got an email from the retailer i bought it from, saying they received an new motherboard. the z68a-gd80 (b3), so im really stoked about this, cuz my previous p67a-gd65 B3 sells at around 130 euros new. and this z68a-gd80 sells at around 200 euro. so they asked me if i agree to this deal.
now my question to you all is; Is the z68a-gd80 better then the p67a-gd65 ?.
the only diffrence is. its got an onboard graphics engine.

thanks!

Yes!!
The Z68 board is a step up from the P67A, i have only used the ASUS version of the Z68 but if you like to tinker in the bios and over clock you will love this board!
MSI has some very good motherboards and there customer service is second to none!!
post some results when you get it and enjoy!!!

forgot to add, I read if you turn your cooler sideways you can still use the original clamp for the CPU. I remove mine as I water cool the CPU and it holds the processor inplace, but I never misplace the holder.................
